Think solar won't save you money unless your roof faces the right way? Or that it won't work in winter? 👀

These are two of the questions Tony had before we installed his system in Shoreham.

And they're both common misconceptions.

Solar panels don't need heat or direct sunlight to work. They generate electricity from UV light, which is still there throughout the winter. You can get around 60% of your summer output through the winter.

And if your roof isn't south-facing, that doesn't necessarily mean solar won't work either. Tony's roof is flat, so we were able to set the angle ourselves using the mounting system.

The other question was how long the installation would take.

For the systems we install, it's usually between two and five days, so you're not left with your house looking like a building site for weeks.

For most homes in West Sussex, you're looking at somewhere between £4,000 and £10,000 depending on the size of the system and what you want it to do.

This system in Shoreham cost around £7,000 for 10 panels, a Fox battery and inverter. Tony is due to save over £15,000 over 10 years, with the system paying for itself in around seven years.

And that £4,000-£10,000 covers more than just the panels. You're looking at the mounting, battery, electrical work, bird protection, certification and building regs too.
