We provide a full range of civil engineering services across Infrastructure, Highways, Housing, Commercial, Retail and Domestic sectors. Our experienced teams operate across both public and private sector contracts, including Local Authorities and national developers. Surfacing
Our Surfacing Division specialises in the supply and laying of asphalt surfaces for Highways, Housing Developments, Commercial and Retail Schemes, Local Authorities, Schools, MUGAs and Sports Facilities, Car Parks, Private Roads and Domestic Driveways. Highways
Launched in April 2025, RK Bell Highways is a new specialist division focused on Section 278 (S278) Works, Infrastructure Delivery and Highways Maintenance. We undertake works for National Highways, Local Authorities and Principal Contractors across the South West. Plant Hire & Transport
We offer a broad range of modern, well-maintained plant for hire from 1.5-ton mini diggers to 30-ton heavy excavators, including wheeled and long-reach models. Machines are available either operated (with CPCS-accredited operators) or self-drive. Our plant is supported by an in-house fleet of Low Loaders, Hook Loaders and 8-Wheel Tipper Lorries for material transport and muck-away. Attachments include hydraulic hammers, rock and pile breakers, grapples and specialist buckets. Selected machinery is compatible with biodegradable oils. Waste & Recycling
Our fully licensed Waste Transfer Station produces certified recycled materials in line with WRAP protocol. We supply recycled 6F5, crushed tarmac, screened planings, as-dug and BS3882-compliant topsoil. We accept inert waste and provide on-site loading, tipping and recycling services. A full range of primary and secondary aggregates is available for collection or delivery. Group Structure

We are proud to see RK BELL GROUP featured as a Local Supplier Case Study in the Hinkley Point C Socio-economic & Environmental Impact Report 2026.

The report recognises RK Bell as a trusted supplier to Hinkley Point C for over a decade and our integral role in the creation of the Somerset Infrastructure Alliance, helping local suppliers access opportunities within the nuclear sector.

Working within one of Europe’s largest & most highly regulated construction projects has driven higher standards and accelerated investment in our machinery, accreditations, workforce development and apprenticeships.

As our Managing Director Nick Bell, says in the report:

Our anniversary celebration brought together colleagues and their families, former employees, customers, civic guests, our event partners and family friends to celebrate this very important milestone with us.

85 years. Three generations. One remarkable journey.

Tomorrow, RK BELL GROUP celebrates its 85th Anniversary, bringing together our workforce and their families, former employees, customers, suppliers and invited civic and business guests to mark this important milestone.

We are honoured that Brigadier Nigel Beacom QVRM TD VR DL, attending as the representative of His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, will join us as our Guest of Honour and deliver the Anniversary Address.

While celebrating 85 years of RK Bell Group, we'll also be raising funds in support of Alzheimer's Society through a range of family activities and charity fundraising.

Every scheme leaves an impression

RK Bell Projects has completed a footpath rejuvenation scheme for Abri at Deanesly Way, Wincanton.

With many elderly residents living along the route, the team programmed the works in sections so each area could be removed and reinstated the same day, helping to maintain safe access and reduce trip hazards.

The planning behind schemes like this is rarely visible once the surface is finished, but it makes a real difference to the people affected by the works. Good surfacing work is more than just the material laid, it depends on sensible programming, safe access, tidy working and the conduct of the team on site.

One resident was so appreciative of the team’s approach that they brought the gang bacon sandwiches, fresh oranges, cold drinks and ice lollies during the works. This response says more than any project summary could. It reflects the care taken by the team and the way the works were managed on site.

Across the South West, RK Bell Projects’ Surfacing Department has built long-standing relationships through consistent delivery, reliable service and a practical approach to programme and cost management.

Thank you to Abri for the opportunity to deliver the works and well done to the team on site! 👏
