As from Wednesday 25th August forest operations will be moving from Ashley Combe to the area between Keepers Combe and Ramscombe. Please ensure you follow signs while around this area.

I have attached a map of the area.

Another weekend on the way and, yes, ANOTHER reminder that BBQs, fires, and stoves are not permitted in the nation's forests 🙅‍♂️

Despite localised rain showers, the ground and vegetation remain incredibly dry after such a long dry spell. Bring your favourite picnic snacks instead, and help us keep the countryside safe. Thank you to everyone who has shared this vital message 🤗

👍It's the perfect time to escape the heat under the shade of the trees, listen to the sounds of nature, and recharge. Why not top it off with an al fresco picnic with your favourite snacks?

👎Remember that BBQs aren't permitted anywhere in the nation's forests. It only takes one spark to start a dangerous wildfire. Don't be that person 🙃

NO FIRES OR BBQ’s ALLOWED IN GREAT WOOD (or any of our woods)!!

As well as the numerous posters, website and social media updates, we have now installed two banners in the picnic field in Great Wood making it clear that BBQs and fires are not permitted.

Please forward to any people or groups that you think might need to know.

No one can now claim “not to know”

Forest fires are devastating to wildlife and very dangerous for people and local communities.

**Great wood forestry operations update**

Forestry Operations will commence in Great Wood tomorrow Wednesday 5th August.

We will now be beginning in Ashley Combe.

Please ensure you follow all signage in order to keep safe.

The temperature might be cooling off a little, but the ground remains extremely dry and the risk of wildfire is very high 🔥 Remember to leave the BBQ at home this weekend and pack a delicious picnic for your forest adventure instead 🥪

Exciting news from Exmoor that a female pine marten, released last year as part of the Two Moors Pine Marten project, has been snapped with her offspring! This family is enjoying some peanut butter and fish oil, which is used by the project team to capture pine martens on camera. This is how we can confirm that pine martens are successfully breeding in both Exmoor and Dartmoor, which is an essential step on the way to re-establish a sustainable breeding population of pine marten in the south west.
