We work with construction businesses that actually care about getting the right people in the right seats.

A lot of the work we do now is headhunting rather than simply advertising a job and hoping the right person applies.

Now I’ve got your attention… 😂

I can neither confirm nor deny whether I’m the world’s best construction recruiter.

Self-proclaimed? Maybe.

But if you don’t back yourself after 22 years in recruitment, what hope have you got?

I started life on the tools as a plumber but after flooding multiple basements it was time for a change.

Somehow ending up in recruitment. Two decades later, I’m still here, still grafting, still building businesses and still competing with agencies considerably bigger than mine.

Hawkes isn’t the biggest agency.

And I’m alright with that.

I’d rather work with good construction businesses that are serious about hiring and understand what actually goes into finding the right people.

I map markets properly. I headhunt. I speak to people who aren’t applying to adverts. And if I think something isn’t going to work, I’ll tell you.

I’ve gone up against much bigger agencies plenty of times over the years and held my own.

David vs Goliath has always suited me.

And one thing anyone who has worked with me properly will know:

When I’m in your corner, I’m in your corner.

I’ll fight for the hire, chase every avenue and leave no stone unturned.

Give me trust, decent communication and mutual respect, and you’ll get the absolute best out of me.

Back me to do my job, and I’ll back you all the way.

So, world’s best construction recruiter?

Excuse the GTA-style banner.

My son’s been telling me he wants the new GTA when it comes out,
And I seem to hear about this game everywhere at the moment.

I’m not much of a gamer, I’m to busy with the wacky world of construction recruitment.

but it got me thinking…And I’m ready for my next mission.

I have capacity for 1/2 clients…GOOD clients.

What does a good client look like?

• Clear brief from the start
• Quick feedback on CVs
• Interviews booked without weeks of waiting
• Honest feedback after interviews
• Realistic about the market and salary
• Keeps me updated if anything changes
• Trusts me to headhunt
• Makes decisions when the right person is sitting in front of them
• Treats candidates properly throughout the process
• Works with me, not against me
• Dosent give the role to 722 other recruiters

So, if you’re recruiting and need a headhunter who’ll actually go out, map the market, approach the right people and find the person you want…give me a shout.

Sometimes a CV just doesn’t tell the full story.

People can get dismissed too quickly because something doesn’t quite look right on paper.

If I’m putting someone forward, I’ve spoken to the candidate in detail first. I know the background, the context and why I think they’re worth a conversation.

That’s why I’ll often add a bit more in the bio when I send someone over.

Sometimes there’s more to the person than what’s sitting on the CV.
