🚨 ROGUE TRADER ALERT 🚨

Emma was contacted by a customer while we were on holiday asking whether RDL could come and put right some plastering work that had recently been carried out.

When Rob and Emma arrived, they were genuinely shocked at what they found. 😳

Two men had charged this family £300 to board up a doorway and skim it — and apparently completed the job in just a couple of hours.

The pictures will show you exactly why it was done so quickly… and honestly, this is one of the worst jobs we have come across. 🤦‍♂️

Rob gave the customer honest advice and, rather than trying to patch up what had been done, agreed to remove the so-called “new work” and completely redo it properly.

This is exactly why we always say: if something seems cheap, there is usually a very good reason why.

Quality workmanship takes time, the correct materials and experience. Sometimes paying a little more initially can save you a LOT more in the long run.

At RDL, we take pride in doing things properly — not just quickly.

No render going on today… but that doesn’t mean we’re putting our feet up! 😂

Today we’re off to repair and make good someone’s walls after they were left in a less-than-acceptable condition by a different plasterer.

Unfortunately, we’re often called in to put right work that simply hasn’t been finished to the standard it should be. At RDL, attention to detail matters, and we’re proud to leave every job looking the way it should. 👌

Another day, another challenge — let’s get it sorted! 💪

🥂 What a year it’s been! 🥂

When Rob made the decision to fly solo and start RDL Plastering and Rendering Ltd, we never dreamt that one year later we would be where we are today.

With Rob’s 35 years of experience and Emma’s proven track record in business, sales and marketing, I suppose success was never completely out of reach — but nothing comes easy!

There have been tears, tantrums, stressful days and plenty of laughs along the way. Every challenge has helped shape RDL into the business it is today.

Of course, we couldn’t have done it without our amazing team — Brad, Jack, Tom, Geoff and Liam. Your hard work, dedication and commitment have played a huge part in our journey.

And finally, a massive thank you to all of our customers. Every job, every recommendation and every bit of support has helped us grow into the company we are today.

From a decision to take the leap, to building a successful business with an incredible team around us — we couldn’t be prouder.

What a first year. What a journey.

Happy Monday! ☀️

A big final push today before we head off on annual leave. Emma is wrapping up the final quotations for some exciting upcoming projects, while Rob is heading over to Nottingham to complete some ceiling repairs for a gentleman.

We will be taking a well-earned break from tomorrow, but Emma will still be keeping an eye on the inbox while we’re away.

Please note, no further quotations will be prepared and no new bookings will be confirmed until we return on 26th August.

Chaddesden Extension – Another Job Over the Line 🏠

Another extension completed and another set of very happy customers.

The lads finished the skimming this morning after making the decision to come off site on Thursday due to the extreme heat and unsuitable plastering conditions.

High temperatures can have a significant effect on plaster. When the background and surrounding conditions are too hot, plaster can dry out far too quickly, making it difficult to work correctly and increasing the risk of poor adhesion, cracking and a weak, crumbly finish.

Rather than push ahead and potentially compromise the quality of the job, we made the decision to wait for more suitable conditions. It’s always better to pause than rush, only to have to remove and redo the work later.

The result is a quality finish, completed properly and, most importantly, another very happy customer.

Quality plastering isn’t just about getting the job done — it’s about knowing when the conditions are right to do it properly.
