Not every job goes to plan!

On arrival, it was clear there were some serious issues with the incoming supply. The top of the main fuse carrier had broken away, leaving part of the fuse exposed, and the neutral block cover was also damaged.

The installation was made safe and the DNO was contacted. On inspection, they found the main fuse had effectively become fused into the service head due to years of overheating. The engineer commented that it was one of the worst examples they had seen.

With a new service head installed by the DNO, I was able to return and remove the old rewireable fuse boards, replacing them with a new 18th Edition consumer unit complete with RCBO and SPD protection.

Sometimes the safest and most professional thing to do is stop, make safe, and come back another day. The end result is a much safer installation with modern protection and another happy customer.

Another upgrade completed

Removed 3 old rewireable fuse boards located in the basement and combined everything into one new 18th Edition compliant consumer unit with full RCBO protection and surge protection (SPD).

As the consumer unit is located in the basement (Goblins lair), an emergency light was also installed to ensure safe access and visibility in the event of a power outage (or Goblin mischief).

A safer, tidier and more reliable installation for the customer.

Just in time for Christmas, this garden lighting has had a full upgrade.

The original lights had only been in a few years before failing due to weather exposure. Replaced with new colour-changing, outdoor-rated lighting, all controlled by remote to create the right atmosphere for Christmas and future occasions.

This was a great installation to complete and both myself and the customer were extremely happy with the result. The two old boards were fully upgraded into a new double-stack consumer unit, an emergency light was fitted above the board so that if the power ever goes out you can safely see the circuits, and new interlinked smoke and heat alarms were installed throughout the property for full compliance and peace of mind.
