⚡ 13 AMP FUSE IN YOUR BOILERS FUSED SPUR NOW THAT CAN BE A PROBLEM ⚡

Here's something we found whilst doing a routine Service on a combi boiler recently — A 13 amp fuse fitted in the boiler's fused spur.

For all UK Domestic Gas boilers, it should have been protected by a 3 amp fuse.

So why does that matter it's just a fuse isnt it?

Well thats not the case.

you shouldnt be just chucking any old 13amp fuse in the fused spur to keep boiler running. A3 amp fuse should be fitted to provide protection to the electrical supply and appliance in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.

A 13A fuse allows considerably more current to flow before it operates(blow) than a 3A fuse. All UK Domestic boiler manufacturer specifies a 3A fuse, fitting a 13A fuse means the intended level of protection isn't being provided.

It's a small detail that's very easy to overlook — but it's exactly the sort of thing that can be picked up when a boiler is properly serviced and checked.

🔧 The correct fuse rating should always be the one specified by the boiler manufacturer. 🔧

For all domestic gas boilers, you'll commonly find a 3A fuse is specified.

Another reason why an annual boiler service is about much more than simply giving the boiler a quick clean!

🔥 3 THINGS ON YOUR TODO LIST BEFORE YOU TURN YOUR HEATING BACK ON!

As summer draws toclose and Autumn is starting to settle, and before you know it, everybody will be making a dash for the thermostat and turning the heating up on full whack!!!

So Before the colder really sets in this year, here are three simple things you can do to check your heating system winter-ready. 🍂

1️⃣ Check your boiler pressure

Start by taking a look at your boiler's pressure gauge. Many sealed heating systems (combi boilers fallin this category) should be around 1–1.5 bar when cold, although you should always check your boiler manufacturer's instructions.

If the pressure is too low, your boiler may not operate correctly. so quickly give it a top up of water.

2️⃣ Check your radiators

Turn your heating on and check that all your radiators are warming up properly and evenly.

If any of your radiators are cold at the top but warm at the bottom, it will most likely have trapped air that needs bleeding.

itis best practice to do this when your heating off and allow the radiators to cool down before bleeding them, but dont be too worried if you do it whilstthey are hot if you're in a rush, you may just have to tp up again later when the water has cooled and stopped expending. Check your boiler pressure again afterwards.

3️⃣ Book your annual boiler service
