🎀 BAILDON, I NEED YOUR HELP… AND YES, THERE WILL BE COCKTAILS! 🎀
This week’s update is a little different. It’s less “look at this lovely candle” and more “please help me pull off something brilliant without having a mild panic in the stockroom.” 😂
I’m organising a special Breast Cancer Awareness charity event with the aim of raising £1,000 for Breast Cancer UK. It’s a big target — the sort that makes you gulp slightly when you say it out loud — but I genuinely believe we can reach it if our brilliant community gets behind me.
The event starts at 5pm on Saturday 10 October and is open to the public. I’d love to fill the room with friends, families, familiar faces and people who only came for one cocktail but somehow stayed all evening. 💕
Some wonderful local businesses have already jumped in to help. Toni’s Tipples will be bringing the cocktails, DB Boutique will be selling clothing at Warren Day Design, and Baildon Pottery is running two Knocker Pots pottery workshops. The first workshop filled up quickly, but more tickets are now available online — so book soon if you fancy getting creative. Actual pottery talent is entirely optional!
There’ll also be hand massages for donations, beautiful handmade jewellery from EBA Jewellery and cupcakes. Because if we’re asking people to save the world, the least we can do is provide cake.
And, naturally, there’s a special b**b candle in production. Apparently I’m physically incapable of organising an event without finding a way to involve wax. 🕯️😂
We’ll also have a big charity raffle packed with prizes, plus a photographer capturing the fun, laughter and community spirit. Please start practising your best “I’ve definitely only had one cocktail” smile now. 📸
But jokes aside, I really do need your help.
If you’re a local business, could you donate a raffle prize, offer a product or experience, get involved on the day or simply help spread the word? It doesn’t need to be enormous — although if anyone has a spare holiday to the Maldives lying around, I won’t say no. Every donation, share and kind offer will move us closer to our goal.
And if you’re not a business, you can still make a huge difference. Come along, bring your friends, buy a raffle ticket, book a pottery space, enjoy a cocktail, treat yourself to a cupcake or share this post. Preferably all of the above — though maybe do the pottery before the cocktails. 🍸🏺
I want this to be more than just an event. I want it to show what can happen when local people and businesses rally around something that really matters.
Please help me reach that £1,000 target and make this a day Baildon can be proud of. 💕
