Awkward angle? Don’t eyeball it and hope for the best 😂

A sliding bevel lets you copy the angle, transfer it over and get your cut bang on.

Simple tool. Very useful bit of kit. 🔨

A fiddly little bit of the job, but a satisfying one 😅

Getting a sloping driveway to meet the pavement neatly takes a fair bit of measuring, marking, cutting… and checking it all again.

It’s the kind of detail you might not notice once it’s finished — but it makes all the difference 👌

Been a little quiet on here lately — mainly because we’ve been busy on the tools. 👷‍♂️

Paddy with a quick update from one of our bigger ongoing projects. Today’s job is getting this wall tidied up and restored, bringing it back into shape while keeping the character of the original structure.

Wall restoration and repair is a big part of what we do at Magnum Opus Landscaping & Groundworks, from private gardens and residential properties to larger commercial settings.

Whether it’s an existing wall that needs repairing and restoring, or part of a wider landscaping and groundworks project, we can take care of the job from start to finish.

🚧 Project update.

Today marks the start of one of the biggest landscaping projects I’ve taken on to date.

The first job was breaking up and removing the existing patio before we can begin building a completely new outdoor space. It’s always exciting seeing a transformation start from the ground up, and I can’t wait to bring this customer’s vision to life.

Follow along over the coming days to see every stage of this patio installation, from demolition and groundwork through to the finished garden transformation.

A patio isn’t just about choosing beautiful paving slabs—it’s about how they’re installed.

A well-laid patio starts with the foundations. Each slab should be laid on a full bed of mortar, bonded correctly where required, levelled carefully and given the correct fall so water drains away properly. It’s these small details that help prevent rocking slabs, sinking and costly repairs further down the line.

This hit me harder than I expected.

From the age of 17 to 34, landscaping has been one of the few constants in my life.

Like everyone, life has thrown plenty my way over the years. There have been highs, lows and moments where I’ve questioned everything. But no matter what was going on, getting outside, building something with my hands and seeing the difference we could make to someone’s home always brought me back.

There’s something special about taking an empty, tired or overgrown space and turning it into somewhere people genuinely enjoy spending time. Seeing a client’s reaction at the end of a job will never get old.

Today these brochures arrived, and seeing my face on the back of something that represents everything I’ve worked towards is a pretty surreal feeling. When I started out as a teenager, I never imagined I’d be holding something like this one day.

Magnum Opus has always been about more than landscaping. It’s about doing things properly, taking pride in every detail and leaving every customer with something they’ll enjoy for years to come.

To everyone who’s trusted me with their gardens, recommended us, supported the business or simply followed the journey—thank you. It genuinely means more than you know.
