Still working under old lighting? 💡

Lighting is one of those things that can sit on the maintenance list for years because technically, it still works.

But older lighting can mean:
- Higher energy consumption
- More frequent lamp replacements
- Uneven or poor-quality light
- Darker working areas
- More ongoing maintenance

An LED upgrade can improve the quality of the lighting while also reducing energy use and maintenance requirements.

And it doesn’t necessarily mean replacing everything in one go. Depending on the building, upgrades can often be planned in stages.

If the lighting in your office, workshop, school or commercial premises is starting to show its age, get in touch and we can look at the options.

Does one of your circuits keep tripping?

It can be tempting to simply reset it and carry on.

But if the same circuit is repeatedly tripping, there’s usually a reason.

It could be an issue with an appliance, a circuit fault or something within the electrical installation that needs investigating.

Good fault finding is about identifying the actual cause rather than replacing things unnecessarily or repeatedly resetting the power.

If something in your home or business keeps tripping, don’t wait until it becomes more disruptive.
Get in touch and let us take a proper look at what’s going on.

Half term is coming. Is there electrical work your school has been putting off? ⚡

School holidays can be the ideal opportunity to complete electrical work that is much harder to carry out while classrooms and corridors are full of pupils and staff.

At E.R Electrical, we work across schools, colleges and specialist teaching environments on projects including:

- Lighting upgrades
- Additional power and sockets
- Emergency lighting
- Data cabling
- EICRs and remedial works
- Electrical alterations for classroom refurbishments
- Specialist teaching spaces and laboratories

Planning work during quieter periods can help minimise disruption and give contractors better access to the areas that need attention.
If you have electrical works that you’re hoping to complete during an upcoming school holiday, it’s worth getting them planned early.

Get in touch with the E.R Electrical team to discuss your requirements.

Good lighting can completely change how a space feels.

It’s not always about adding more lights.

Sometimes it’s about putting the right lighting in the right place.

That might mean:
- Task lighting where you actually work
- Softer lighting for living spaces
- Better lighting over kitchen worktops
- Feature lighting
- Improved lighting in hallways and staircases
- Upgrading older fittings to LED

A well-planned lighting scheme can make a room feel brighter, more practical and much more finished.
Thinking about changing the lighting in your home or business? Get in touch and let’s look at what would work best for the space.

Older home? That doesn’t automatically mean bad electrics.

But it can mean the installation has had years of additions and alterations.

A new kitchen here.
An extension there.
Extra sockets added years later.
Maybe even a little DIY somewhere along the way.

If you’re buying, renovating or simply unsure of the condition of the electrics, it’s worth having them checked.

An inspection can help you understand what is still perfectly serviceable, what needs attention and what might be worth planning for in the future.

If you’re unsure what you’re working with, get in touch and we can help you get a clearer picture.

Why are there never enough sockets where you actually need them?

Because many houses were wired for a very different world.

Today one corner of a room might need power for:

A TV
Wi-Fi equipment
Games consoles
Lamps
Speakers
Chargers
A laptop
Smart-home devices

Which is why so many homes end up with extension leads and adapters everywhere.

If you’re decorating or renovating a room, it’s a perfect opportunity to think about where you actually use electricity and have additional sockets installed before everything is finished.

A little planning can make the room much easier to live with.

Would your emergency lighting actually work if the power went off today?

Emergency lighting is something most businesses barely notice.

And that’s exactly the point.

But if there’s a power failure or emergency, it needs to work when people actually need it.

Regular inspection and testing helps identify:

Failed fittings
Battery issues
Damaged equipment
Areas that may no longer have suitable coverage
Changes to the building layout that affect escape routes

If you’re responsible for a commercial property, school, office or other premises, emergency lighting should be part of your ongoing electrical maintenance.

E.R Electrical can help with testing, maintenance, repairs and upgrades.

New kitchen on the horizon? Don’t leave the electrics until the cabinets are already on order.

A kitchen renovation involves far more electrical planning than most people realise.

Think about:

Where the sockets need to go
Induction hobs and ovens
Extractor fans
Under-cabinet lighting
Island power
Integrated appliances
Lighting circuits
Future appliances you may want to add

Getting an electrician involved early means the electrical layout can be planned around the finished kitchen, rather than trying to work around decisions that have already been made.

It can also help avoid costly changes later.

If you’re planning a kitchen renovation, extension or refurbishment, speak to us before the first fix starts.
