National Gundog critiques are now available on the KC website.

I was extremely honoured to have National Gundog as my first CC appointment, especially during a year which has turned out to be so important for the breed. Thank you to the Gundog Societies who nominated and voted for me, and the Clumber Spaniel Club for their support. My biggest thank you goes to....

🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 CALLING ALL CLUMBER OWNERS
As breed Rep Co Ordinator I’ve secured a booth at EDITION DOGS LIVE 2026
It’s a smaller version of Discover Dogs on our part, but Sue & I set the booth as DD.
So I’m dividing the day in half so volunteers do 3.5 hrs each. Saturday morning session has been filled but I need 3 other willing participants to do Saturday afternoon and Sunday AM & PM
It requires 2 dogs to be on the stand with owners.
3 dogs WILL NOT FIT and no puppies under 9mth old please.
If you can help please email me on..

Thanks

Clumber Spaniel Club Partnership Championship Show

2nd August 2026

Thank you to all the members of the Clumber Spaniel Club who elected me into this appointment. Thanks to Ian and Eunice for stewarding for me and to Hilda Monaghan for donating keyrings for all class winners, as well as those who sponsored class rosettes. Mostly many thanks to all exhibitors who entered under me and took my decisions sportingly. I had a quality entry and it was particularly nice to see top quality puppies coming through; all nicely constructed and all with scissor bites. I did find a couple of undershot bites in the adult bi***es.

BPD (1,1)

MPD (0)

PD (3) 1 Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Boulevardier. 9 month old boy with square head and scissor bite. Nice expression being masculine with kindness, well laid shoulder and stands on nice round feet in good body condition. However it is when he moved he was immediately into a correct footfall and won his place on his effortless movement holding his topline. BPD.
2 Dronsfield's Vanitonia Spectre of Whitbraith. I'm sure these boys will change places. A lot to like about this quality boy and going over him similar comments apply. Just not getting into his stride as cleanly as 1 in the first breed class. Still a worthy winner of RBPD.
3 Blackburn’s Tweedsmuir Manhattan.

JD (2) 1 Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Boulevardier and 2 Dronsfield's Vanitonia Spectre of Whitbraith. As PD.

ND (3) 1 Morrison’s Elskerwoo Solar Flare. Nice dog in good condition with decent muscle and kind expression. Correct scissor bite and cleanest of eyes. Excellent turn of stifle on the freestand and held his topline on the move with a low tail set and clean going away action. Good short loin.
2 Taylor's Creeaark Nereus at Mollynewf. In better coat than 1 but not the hind movement going away. Pleasing type with a pleasing head and expression. Firm in topline when stood and overall a nice shape with decent bone.
3 Blackburn’s Tweedsmuir Manhattan.

GD (3) 1 Monaghan's Tweedsmuir Boulevardier and 2 Dronsfield's Vanitonia Spectre of Whitbraith. As PD.
3 Crittenden’s Malbecmogs Tiger Eyes at Clumberdor.

PGD (4,1) 1 Guy’s Suelynda Dream Dreamer to Jahanghir. Lively boy but a pleasure to see his relationship with his handler. In excellent muscle and coat condition. Nice expression and clean eye. Well bent stifles and a level topline. When he settled he drove well. He scored in front with his lovely straightly set feet.
2 Husbands’ Bebecova Quicksilver. Ok in head and a nice overall shape in profile. He had nice profile movement holding his topline. He has a decent coat quality which scores as predominantly white and he was in good bone.
3 Riley’s Scottsriver Cruzin Dude.

LD (7,1) 1 Monaghan's Kensequi Nice At Tweedsmuir JW. Very typey boy with a nice well presented coat. Masculine but kind expression on a square head with a scissor bite. Depth of chest is there, as are well muscled hindquarters with a low set tail. Good round feet. Drove out nicely and scored in topline.
2 Wareham’s Maursett Melwyn. Again I liked the type on this boy, particularly his head and expression and his balanced proportions. Scissor bite. Well spring ribs. Nice lay back on the shoulder, well bent stifles. Moved decently. Very nicely presented coat. Classic type and strongly b***d legs.
3 Nesbitt’s Creeaark Austin Healey from Chabrouille ShCEx.

OD (4) 1 Blackburn’s Sh Ch Suelynda Let Me Be The One JW. When I walked down the line at the start of the class I did not have a particular opinion of him but when I sent the class around the ring, this boy’s exceptional bone and masculine outline combined with his effortlessly sound profile movement and powerful drive spoke to me and reminded me of why I fell in love with the breed as a child over 30 years ago. To go over he is an absolutely typical Clumber in firm hard condition and particularly scores in depth of flank. Strong head with deep scissor bite sitting in a strong jaw. Powerful neck leads into well laid shoulder, firm topline, his hindquarters are strong and well developed and he stands on large well rounded feet. Presented in immaculate order, a pleasure to award him DCC and ultimately BIS.
2 Gardner and Carter-Hunt’s Sh Ch Vanitonia Something Extra, another top quality male that is as sound as a pound from all angles. Again a strong topline held at all times, well muscled, plenty of silky straight coat, well angulated quarters and scores in expression and length of neck. In the challenges he was an easy decision for RDCC and RBIS.

MPB (1,1)

PB (6,1) 1 Cox’s Vanitonia Society Girl, fell for this girl’s outline as I walked down the line. She is a picture of femininity and breed type, Sweetest expression, square headed with scissor bite, lovely body condition, well sprung ribs going back, strong bone down into well rounded feet, lovely straight silky coat, well angulated quarters and low tail set which she carries level on the move. When moving in profile drives beautifully and holds her topline even at 9 months of age. Made me look twice when considering top honours and had the older girls not been here I would have happily have signed a CC for her. Delighted to award her BPB and BPIS.
2 Benge’s Bona Fama Kaprys Rejenta at Benginger (imp POL). Another quality bitch puppy. Pleasing head type with scissor bite. Well bodied and well angulated front and back with lovely bend of stifle. Nice level topline and moved well. RPB.
3 Wilson’s Vanitonia Strike A Pose At Winhampton.

GB (1,1) 1 Mayes’ Abbyford Lady Little Hound of Wooliebourne. Left her coat at home but this girl was a nice shape and in good muscle. Feminine expression with a Clumber square head. Scissor bite, nice powerful and clean neck. Not always cooperating with her handler but there were moments of sound movement. Well developed hindquarter. Front feet were nicely rounded.

PGB (5,4) Wareham’s Tweedsmuir Moonflower. Nice type and expression. In good condition and handler gets the best out of her on the move. She scores in spring of rib and also has a nicely developed hindquarter.

LB (5,1) Kirkman’s Kirkara Helga Hufflepuff. On the stand she has a lovely long neck that just flows into a well laid shoulder. She has a beautiful expression complimented with a soft lemon marking. Totally balanced front and back. She is well angulated and has a good turn of stifle. Coat beautifully presented but so as not to impede a days work which I am sure she could do as she is in firm fit condition. She has a good spring of rib that is carried well back into a firm loin. Standing her well b***d legs on nice round feet. In the breed class she moved well enough but in the challenge she went up a gear and powered around the ring with a clean drive to take the BCC and BOS.
2 Sainsbury’s Elskerwoo Cloudy Skies JW. Not the strongest of heads in the class but she won this place on her effortless movement. She has good shoulder layback, topline and muscle. In enough coat and a nicely carried low set tail.
3 Dawson’s Beskerby Flora Finching JW.

OB (6) Monaghan’s Sh Ch Tweedsmuir She’s So Sheek. This girl is completely typical and her outline leaves you with no question she is a Clumber. Well b***d and bodied and excellent turn of stifle in her strong hindquarters. Kind expression. In excellent straight silky coat that is immaculate. Scored in lay back of shoulder and topline in this class. She moved ok for her replacement runner, her excellent breed type and substance secured her this place and the RBCC.
2 Matthews’ Vanitonia Song And Dance JW. Another beautiful type in good coat well presented. Nice square head type and scissor bite. Scores in overall type and her clean rear movement going away. Well developed hindquarter, bend of stifle and low tail set.
3 Boden’s Sh Ch Suelynda Kreme Della Kreme.

VB (1) Wilson’s Sh Ch Anbrook Fair Maid of Kent By Winhampton. Nine year old girl still able to move around a ring and belie her age. Still a good scissor bite, firm topline and nice bend of stifle. Enough coat to finish the picture. A credit to her owner and breeder. BVIS.

SWD (1)

Brace (3,1) 1 Benge and 2 Nixon. Two nice pairs moving together well and both pairs happy and animated. First just scoring in overall breed type for me and nice to see the dog getting going. Second a pleasant pair and credit to their handler having a go on the brace lead and getting the best out of them.
