Not a design award. A quality award. Here's the difference.
In 2021, Neil Dowlman Architecture was named LABC Regional Winner for Best Residential and Small Commercial Designer.
We're proud of it. But we want to explain why this one matters more than a typical design award.
The LABC is the Local Authority Building Control. This is the body that inspects buildings as they're being built. Not as they look in final photographs. As they actually get constructed, day by day, on site.
They see thousands of projects. They know what good looks like and they know what corners look like when they've been cut.
So when they give an award for design, it isn't just about how something looks. It's about how it was built. The quality of the specification. The accuracy of the drawings. The standard of the finished work on site. The relationship between what was designed and what was actually delivered.
That's a different standard entirely.
Most design awards are judged by designers. This one is judged by the people who sign off your building as safe, compliant and built to standard.
That distinction matters to us, because this is the reason our clients can trust that what we put on paper will actually be built properly.
