Whilst performing an EICR (electrical installation condition report) on a property we found a loose wire on this switch which as you can clearly see has caused arcing.

Obviously this is a major fire risk to your property and is a reminder that it’s so easy to become complacent and think your electrics are going to be ok without having them checked (maintained).

This is why it’s important to get your electrical installation checked (EICR) every 10years if domestic/residential, 5 years for commercial
Did you know that often, hidden within the small print of your insurance contracts, a lot of home insurance companies won’t pay out for electrical fires unless you can prove you have maintained your electrical installation (EICR).

To check if your property needs an EICR or not there should be a sticker on the front or under the lid of your consumer unit with a date in which the installation was tested and is due to be tested and inspected again.

Earlier this week we installed a new external supply ready for a new hot tub.
This was a 32A supply protected by 30ma type A rcd, a rotary isolator for functional/isolation purposes and seperate Earth rod making this a TT earthing arrangement, we also left plenty of cable spare for the final connection by others.
