He is a very busy man at the moment helping customers with keeping their boilers in top condition but we caught up with OnTrack Service and Repair Engineer Luke to answer one of our most popular questions.

❓Why does one of my radiators not work?

One of the most common questions we get when visiting customers’ homes is: “Why is one radiator not heating up?”

Here are the most likely causes 👇

🔧 1. The radiator has been turned off

It sounds simple, but it’s often the case! Someone in the home may have turned the valve off without realising.

🔧 2. A faulty Thermostatic Radiator Valve (TRV)

TRVs can seize shut or get blocked with deposits as they age. This stops hot water flowing into the radiator.

🔧 3. Air trapped in the radiator or pipework

This is very common. Sometimes bleeding the radiator will fix it, but stubborn air locks may need an engineer.

🔧 4. Low system pressure

If your boiler pressure is low, there may not be enough water circulating through the system to heat every radiator.

🔧 5. Poor system balancing

Your heating system may not be balanced correctly, meaning hot water favours certain radiators and avoids others.

🔧 6. Sludge or debris in the system

Over time, sludge builds up in radiators and pipework which restricts flow. This is especially common in older systems.

🔧 7. Incorrect installation

If the radiator is new, it may have been piped incorrectly. Some radiators and valves only work when the flow enters from a certain direction.

A little update from us as we have been a little quiet on our social media recently.

Our team have had a very busy week carrying out 2 Air Conditioning installations alongside new boiler installations and lots of boiler servicing, repairs and plumbing.

We are also working hard to source Air Conditioning units, there is a shortage in the U.K., as with the boiler side of our business we will only fit units from the manufacturers we trust and work with.

Thank you to our customers who are patiently waiting for installation dates or quotes, we have had over 50 quotes in the last 2 weeks due to the heatwave.

We are putting in lots of extra hours behind the scenes to get through our workload.

We have opened up next springs diary already to customers who want to get ahead of next years rush and slots are filling already.
