Garage Lock Warning – Bonnyrigg, Midlothian 🚨
Unfortunately, it looks like garage door lock snapping is back in Bonnyrigg, with garages being targeted by thieves looking for valuable e-bikes and other bikes.
We were recently called to a garage where the lock had been snapped in an attempt to gain entry, apparently because the thieves believed there were e-bikes stored inside.
In this case, they were wrong — the homeowner didn't own any e-bikes at all.
We repaired the damage to the garage door and fitted a new barrel lock, securing the garage again.
⚠️ A word of caution for local cyclists and e-bike owners:
Be aware of your surroundings when returning home after a bike ride. If you regularly cycle and have an e-bike or other valuable bikes stored in your garage, it's worth considering whether someone could be watching where you return to and identifying where bikes may be stored.
Don't make it easy for them.
🔐 Consider upgrading your garage security with stronger locks, additional security bolts and suitable ground anchors for valuable bikes.
Prevention is key. Once a thief has decided your garage is worth targeting, your garage door lock may be the first thing they attack.
