From what started out as a simple concrete shed base turned into a full garden transformation.
On this project along with the large shed base we added a pathway and steps around the summerhouse build and an artificial turf, which was much needed on this project due to the poor drainage and boggy turf.
No more muddy paws …….or kids 😂

Something different we have completed recently (to keep us out of the rain 😂)
Huge storage cupboards installed in a double garage.
After constructing the build we lightly torched the wood to protect it and give it a longer life. It also protects it against rot, insects and moisture.

❌❌BEWARE OF THE COWBOYS❌❌

I was contacted by a new customer asking for advice.
My customer had not been ripped off not once by 1 company, but twice by 2 seperate companies!!!!!! One of which has quickly vanished!
Upon visiting the garden I was shocked to see such a poor install. The garden was flooded, soggy artificial turf with growth (weeds and plant growing through it).
When we unpinned the turf (polrobably the only thing done decent) we started to scape back the sand underneath (picture 3). There was no stone down to act as a soak away and ground stabilisation and zero membrane. THAT WAS COMPANY 1.

Along came COMPANY 2 after being contacted about the flooding issues. Their take was to dig a 1m cubic square hole out and insert a plastic drainage soak away. This would be all well and good if the water could escape. It was wrapped numerous times with a membrane that barely passed water. That being said the level of water the garden collected and the fact it had nowhere to go resulted the same as the first installment.

See the last picture for the level of water the garden collects at times! This was still with the plastic cube for drainage installed by others still in place.
We used our own sump to pump out the water and then dig out the plastic structure buried.

Picture 1 is now how we have left the garden. Costing less than both of the original 2 and with a fail safe sump pump installed.
On this install we took out around 15 tonne of sand and soil. In its place we installed a geotex membrane and put in 10 tonne of MOT, 2 tonne of pea gravel bedding the French drainage system we installed and the sump tub.
The French drains spanned the complete garden and then ran to a sump pump we had positioned in the naturally lowest area. We then put in 3 tonne of grit and finally the new artificial turf. We bordered the plant areas with sleepers to hold back any shrubbery or plants and deco stone already in place. We also carried out the installation of a new socket for the sump to run off and a new gate post.
We did not rush this project and once the drainage system was in place we left it over a few heavy rainfalls to show our customer it was sufficient and worked adequately before covering up. Our customer was happy with the way in which we worked through the project and delighted with the end results.
Moral of the story do your research on the installers!!!!!!
