💧 Why Is Your Boiler Losing Pressure? 💧

Boiler pressure issues can be frustrating, but not all pressure loss is normal. Here's what you need to know:

✅ Optimal Pressure: Keep your boiler at 1.2 bar when cold. Overfilling above 2.0 bar could trigger the pressure relief valve (PRV), leading to frequent pressure loss.
❗ Warning Signs: If you're topping up pressure more than every few months, see visible leaks, or your pressure keeps dropping below 1.0 bar, it's time to investigate.
🚨 Damage Risk: Not all boilers cut out with low pressure. Running a boiler with insufficient water can damage internal components.

🔥 F22 Fault on your Glow-worm Flexicom HX? 🔥

If you’ve Googled the F22 fault code, you’ve likely seen “low pressure” listed as the cause. However, this doesn’t apply to the Flexicom HX, as it doesn’t require system pressure to operate. So, that’s not the problem here!

The actual issue is most commonly related to the pump or one of the NTCs (temperature sensors). These components can cause the boiler to lock out and display the F22 fault.

💡 What can you do right now?
If you’re stuck without heating or hot water, try this temporary fix:
1️⃣ Reset the boiler several times in a row.
2️⃣ Once the boiler kicks in, allow it to heat past 39°C – that’s the magic number.
3️⃣ At this point, the boiler should stay on, at least until an engineer can properly resolve the issue.

📞 Don’t leave it to chance! Call Gasman Direct and let our local experts get your boiler back up and running safely and efficiently.

🏡 Is Your Heating System the Right Fit for Your Home and Lifestyle? 🌡️

Choosing the right heating system can make a huge difference in comfort and efficiency, especially with the cold weather upon us! Here are some tips to help you find the best system for your home and lifestyle:

🔸 Consider Your Home Type: For smaller or well-insulated homes, a combi boiler might be a perfect choice, providing hot water on demand without needing a large tank. Meanwhile, larger homes or those with high hot water needs may benefit from a system boiler with a separate storage tank for extra capacity.

🔹 Lifestyle Matters: If you're home a lot, especially during the day, you might want a system with easy-to-control heating zones and smart thermostat compatibility. The UK’s Energy Saving Trust highlights that zoning can help save energy by only heating the rooms you’re using.

🔸 Modern Systems are More Efficient: Older boilers can be far less efficient, meaning higher energy bills. Upgrading to a modern, energy-efficient system (rated A or higher) could save you hundreds on annual energy bills, especially with rising costs. According to the Energy Saving Trust, a newer condensing boiler could save up to £340 a year in a detached home.

Thinking about upgrading? Look for systems with smart controls and programmable thermostats to customize heating to your schedule and maximize savings.

What heating system do you use, and does it suit your lifestyle? Comment below and let’s share tips to stay warm and efficient this winter! 🔥

🌡️ What Temperature Should You Set Your Thermostat To This Winter? ❄️

As the chilly UK winter sets in, it's key to keep your home warm while also saving on energy costs. Here are some practical tips based on expert recommendations:

🔸 Average Home Temperature: According to the UK’s Energy Saving Trust, setting your thermostat to around 18-21°C in living areas is ideal for comfort and efficiency. They recommend keeping it at 18°C if you’re able, as lowering by just 1°C can save up to 10% on heating bills.

🔹 Overnight Settings: For a good night’s sleep, the National Sleep Foundation suggests that bedroom temperatures be kept between 15-19°C. Dropping your thermostat a few degrees overnight can also help reduce costs, without sacrificing comfort.

🔸 Extra Layer or Blanket Helps! The NHS advises that while 18°C is safe for healthy adults, older adults and children may prefer a warmer temperature for health and comfort. For households where 18°C might feel cool, adding an extra layer can help keep everyone cozy.

With energy costs rising, finding that balance between comfort and efficiency can make a big difference. What’s your go-to temperature for winter? Share your tips below! 👇
