Choosing a new kitchen worktop is about much more than picking a colour.

Think about how you actually use the kitchen — cooking, entertaining, family life, cleaning and the little details that make it easier to live with every day.

Solid-surface worktops can offer a beautifully clean, seamless finish, with options such as integrated sinks, drainer grooves, upstands and matching splashbacks.

If you’re thinking about updating an existing kitchen rather than replacing everything, a new worktop can make a surprisingly big difference.

The worktop has a huge influence on how a kitchen feels — and there’s no single material that suits every home.

🤍 Solid surface — seamless, contemporary and particularly good for creating clean integrated details.
🪨 Quartz — durable with a timeless feel.
🌳 Timber — warm, natural and full of character.
◾ Laminate — practical, versatile and available in an enormous range of finishes.

We have a particular soft spot for solid surface because of the freedom it gives us when designing and fabricating worktops — but we’re interested to know what you’d put in your own kitchen.

Choosing a new worktop can completely change the feel of a kitchen — without necessarily replacing the kitchen itself.

Solid surface, quartz, timber and laminate can all work brilliantly, but the right choice depends on more than just appearance.

For us, solid surface is particularly interesting because it opens up design possibilities that are difficult to achieve with many traditional worktops — smooth joints, integrated details and a clean, contemporary finish.

And if the cabinetry is still in good condition, replacing the worktops alongside a few carefully chosen upgrades can be a very effective way of giving an existing kitchen a completely new lease of life.

Good storage shouldn’t feel like it’s been added to a room — it should feel like it was always meant to be there.

An awkward alcove, an unused run of wall or a bedroom that never seems to have enough storage can often become something far more useful with fitted cabinetry designed specifically for the space.

And bespoke doesn’t have to mean overcomplicated. Sometimes the best solution is simply clean lines, the right proportions and storage designed around what you actually need.

A timeless kitchen isn’t about playing it safe — it’s about making choices you’ll still love years from now.

Natural materials, a considered colour palette, simple cabinetry and good lighting can completely change how a kitchen feels. Then it’s the smaller details that give it personality.

When we’re thinking about an interior, we always come back to the same question: will this still feel right in five or ten years’ time?

A fitted wardrobe should do more than simply fill a wall.

The best ones are planned around what you actually need to store.

Long hanging or double hanging?
More drawers or more shelves?
Shoes hidden away or easy to see?
A dressing area?
Lighting inside?

And awkward corners, alcoves and sloping ceilings don’t necessarily have to be a compromise — bespoke cabinetry can turn them into some of the most useful storage in the room.

We’ve put together 5 things worth considering before planning fitted wardrobes.
