Team leader - Grounds maintenance/woodland work

The Role: We are seeking to appoint an experienced grounds maintenance/woodland worker to manage a small team of contract workers as well as undertaking the grounds maintenance and woodland work. The role would involve day-to-day management of the team, ensuring that the team’s work schedule is delivered to a high quality and on time, and that day-to-day operational issues are resolved in a timely way. Previous team leader experience is not required but is highly preferable.
The Company: Bodfari Environmental is a family-run business and has been running for over 25 years. We are passionate about the natural world and improving the enjoyment of this for our customers and our community. Our focus is on environmental contracting working with national bodies, local councils, schools and private individuals. The work varies from regular grounds maintenance contracts to one-off projects to build new paths, planting schemes, playgrounds etc. In the winter the majority of our work is processing and delivering firewood. The work is delivered at our 50 acre site located just outside Bodfari, or onsite with our customers, mostly in and around North East Wales area. We share our site with the Woodlands Skills Centre (https://woodlandskillscentre.uk/) and we pride ourselves on the friendly family-feel culture of the business.

Essential Requirements
• Grounds maintenance experience: gardening, horticulture, grass cutting, grass care, hedge cutting, border maintenance etc.
• Woodland worker experience required: felling, snedding, cross cutting etc
• A good team player with excellent customer service skills and a strong work ethic with a focus on delivering high quality work on time.
• A good communicator.
• Physically fit with experience of working in a physically demanding outside environment.
• An interest in landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture and the environment.
• A full UK driving licence and car for commuting to site each day.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to pass an enhanced DBS check, for criminal convictions
Preferable (but training can be given)
• Experience of managing a team of people to deliver high quality work on time.
• Sports field maintenance experience; pitch marking, ride on mowing, strimmer etc.
• Tractor driving experience.
• Experience of driving with and manoeuvring trailers.
• Experience of using relevant machinery: pedestrian and sit-on mowers, chainsaws, tractors, gang mowers etc.
• Landscaping (hard or soft); fencing, patios, turfing, tree surgery etc.
• A PA1/PA6 Pesticide Spraying Licence
• Health and Safety and first aid knowledge
• Chain saw, strimmer, chipper etc certificates.

Working times: 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (up to one hour for breaks).
Weekend overtime: This may be made available, at the discretion of the business, and paid on a pro-rata basis.
Paid holidays: 20 days per year, plus UK bank holidays
