Newport Leisure and Wellbeing Centre update! 📸

Excellent drone images highlighting our progress on the new build project in Newport, for our valued client Newport City Council

This modern development will feature:

🔹 leisure pool equipped with family-friendly elements such as a lazy river and slides.
🔹 dedicated teaching pool for swimming lessons and fitness activities.
🔹 high-quality changing facilities.
🔹 café and relaxation area.

The centre will be one of the UK’s first fossil fuel-free mixed-use leisure centres, powered entirely by low-carbon electricity and forms part of Newport's 15-year placemaking plan, which aims to revitalise the city centre through infrastructure, culture and community-led initiatives.

Happy Sumae Day 2026! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 💚 Today, we're celebrating the Welsh language!

We're encouraging everyone to use a little more Welsh, whether that's greeting a colleague with "Shwmae!" or saying "Diolch!" We're also enjoying some bara brith with our "paned" and to join in with our selfie frame!!

Our Social Value team Sara Baldwin-Evans and Ciera Dustain are also visiting Ysgol Bro Pedr in Lampeter to help pupils with mock interviews in Welsh, as part of our Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth project. "Bendigedig" 🎉

Gold Star for our Award-Winning STEM Achievement! ⭐ 🎉

Fantastic news to to share that Wynne Construction has won Educational Programme of the Year (Private Sector) and also Highly Commended in the STEM Collaboration of the Year category alongside Careers Wales at this years' Wales STEM Awards 2026. 👏

The award ceremony was held at the amazing Techniquest with Cardiff Metropolitan University, attended by Craig and Anwen.

During the 2025/26 academic year, we:
✅ Delivered 150+ hours of STEM activities
✅ Reached 2,766 pupils
✅ Worked with 22 secondary schools across Wales

One of our standout initiatives Maths in the Workplace, developed over the years alongside Careers Wales, uses real drawings from live Wynne projects to help pupils:

📐 Measure rooms and calculate areas
💷 Price materials and apply discounts
🤝 Develop teamwork skills
💡 Build problem-solving and critical thinking abilities

The sessions are delivered by our social value team, degree apprentice quantity surveyors and project managers, providing young people with inspiring role models and a real insight into careers in construction

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

At Wynne Construction, we are committed to supporting our employees and their families every day, all year round. Looking after our people is at the heart of our business.

Sometimes, stepping away from the office can make a real difference. Our volunteering day opportunities give our colleagues time to connect, enjoy the outdoors and give something back to our communities.

Recently, some of the team spent a day volunteering Snowdonia Donkeys, supporting their fantastic work. It was a chance to get involved, spend time together and contribute to a worthwhile cause. 🫏 🌿 Even the donkeys love our selfie frame 😄

This World Mental Health Day, we’re encouraging everyone to make time for themselves, check in with others and keep the conversation about mental wellbeing going throughout the year.

Contract Award: Three sites. 50 new homes. A lasting difference for Bargoed. 🏠

Great news, we have secured a new contract with Caerphilly County Borough Council and Caerphilly Homes to build 50 new homes for social rent across the Park Estate.

The development will provide:
🏠 11 houses
🏡 7 bungalows
🏢 32 apartments

Designed to meet different needs and adapt as residents’ lives change.

Our team is leading the technical design ahead of construction starting in spring 2027, with opportunities for local employment and training during the build.

Celebrating 100 years of Wynne Construction! 🎉
Last Friday, we had a fantastic afternoon of celebrations at the White House Hotel Restaurant and Spa bringing together our team who has helped shape Wynne over the years.

It was a wonderful opportunity to thank those who have supported the company and catch up with former colleagues, sharing memories and recognising the contribution so many people have made to our story.

At the heart of Wynne Construction is our people. Thank you to everyone, past and present, who has been part of our first 100 years.

Thank you also to the staff at the White House, an excellent venue, the amazing band SouthPaw, The Function Hub, beautiful flowers from The Craft Shed Flowers and balloons from Party Heroes plus a delicious cake. Thank you to Mandy Jones Photography for the amazing photos!

What you’ll be doing:
- Processing subcontractor payments, CIS returns and statements.
- Managing retentions, credit cards and petty cash.
- Supporting job costing and maintaining accurate financial records.

What you’ll bring:
- Finance or accounts experience.
- Good Excel skills, accuracy and organisation.
- A collaborative approach, ideally with CIS and VAT knowledge.

Great progress at project Aethwy! 🙌

Latest drone images show the fantastic progress being made on the Aethwy extra care and residential care home scheme in Menai Bridge, for our value client Isle of Anglesey County Council.

A huge well done to our groundworks partners and the entire site team for their hard work in driving this project forward.

This flagship scheme will provide high-quality care, support independent living and create a lasting legacy for communities across Anglesey and includes:

🏠 45 assisted-living apartments
🛏️ A 26-bed residential care home
🤝 A dedicated health and social care hub
