Throwback Thursday 🏠

There is something particularly rewarding about returning to a completed project years later and being appointed for new work. Seeing a building settle into its surroundings and become part of the landscape is one of the most satisfying aspects of architecture.

We are delighted to have secured planning approval for a contemporary two-storey extension to a 1929 period home on Western Road, within the Branksome Park & Chine Gardens Conservation Area, Poole.

In line with Conservation Area guidance, the extension uses a palette of red brick and pebbledash to complement the existing dwelling, while contemporary brick detailing and generous glazing provide a modern architectural expression. The result is a clear yet sympathetic distinction between the original house and the new addition.

Construction is now underway on this contemporary three-bedroom family home in the open countryside of Kington Magna, Dorset.

Following a carefully considered planning strategy, permission was secured to replace a redundant agricultural barn with a high-quality new-build dwelling.
