Ever stripped back a cable and found the copper wire is black?
It’s not lava damage - despite living in the UK, not Pompeii!
Blackened copper usually means oxidation or sulphur corrosion, and that’s bad news for conductivity and safety. If your new cable looks like it’s been through a volcano, don’t use it—especially if it’s not from a trusted brand like Prysmian.
