Kitchen damp works completed in 7 days.

Full team on this one.

This kitchen had to be fully dismantled so the damp works could be carried out properly.

The kitchen was removed, sockets were taken off, the affected walls were knocked off, and the area was reinstated using a cavity membrane system.

Once the damp proofing system was installed, the walls were fully skimmed out and the kitchen was reinstated.

There were also various other damp issues around the property which we identified and resolved as part of the works.

The tenant asked whether it was within the budget to upgrade the tiles and had a preference on the colour, so we made that happen as part of the job.

We also fitted brand new back boxes and sockets, along with replacing the stop tap and installing a new sink waste system.

Some of this wasn’t originally in the price, but our standard is simple:

We don’t want to leave a job just damp proofed.
We want to leave it better than when we found it.

All of this was completed within 7 days, working to a tight deadline as the tenant could only be out of the property for one week.

This wall was suffering from mould and staining caused by a localised cold spot below the window.

Thermal imaging showed the area was still noticeably colder, even on a warm sunny day. During winter, this section would be more likely to drop below dew point, causing condensation to form on the surface and mould to develop.

We removed the affected plaster, fitted thermal board to help reduce the cold spot, and skimmed the area ready for decoration.

This was a cold bridge and condensation issue not penetrating damp or a leak.

This area had previously had chimney pointing, the chimney removed and the roof patched in, flashing works, felt repairs, re-skimming, sanding back, and Zinsser applied — yet the problem still kept returning.

The reason is that hygroscopic salts do not just disappear. Once plaster is contaminated, those salts can continue to attract atmospheric moisture and cause recurring damp-looking patches and decoration failure, even when there is no active roof leak.

In this case, the likely cause of the repeated failure was salt-contaminated plaster linked to the original chimney, not necessarily an ongoing roofing defect. This is why these areas need proper remedial work, not just covering over.

Salts cannot just be scraped back and decorated over, as they will continue to come back through and spoil the finish. This area was treated properly and reinstated the right way, leaving it sound and ready for decoration.

A recent garage conversion we attended revealed multiple defects consistent with poor detailing and suspected DIY workmanship.

Issues identified included timbers laid directly onto a cold concrete floor, roof leaks, defective guttering discharging onto the external walls, an incorrectly positioned damp proof course, dot and dab plasterboarding bridging moisture, and a floor-to-wall junction allowing damp ingress.

The owner was advised to rectify the relevant building defects, as these issues were materially contributing to moisture ingress and compromising the performance of the conversion.

Another damp job completed ✅

Various areas affected by damp and salt contamination throughout the property have now been treated and prepared, leaving the surfaces ready for redecoration.

We also added vents into the chimney, as airflow in unused chimneys is vital in helping to prevent moisture build-up and future damp problems.

A new chemical damp proof course was also installed around the property, as requested by the surveyor.
