They’re here – we’re excited to have taken delivery of the first of our new electric vans as we make the transition to an electric fleet🔋🚐

The PV5 is Kia’s first fully electric commercial van, combining innovative technology with zero-emission capability to provide an efficient solution for the construction industry.

As a carbon-neutral business, sustainability is at the forefront of everything we do and reflected in the services we deliver.

Rod Bunce, contracts director, said: "The arrival of our first electric commercial vans marks an important milestone in Ameon's sustainability journey.

“This investment reflects our commitment to reducing our environmental impact, while continuing to deliver exceptional service to our clients, and is another positive step towards a greener future for our business and the communities we serve."

Back in May, we challenged a group of Blackpool and The Fylde College electrical T Level students to put their understanding of real-world construction processes to the test 🏗️📋

Working in teams, the students developed and presented electrical installation proposals in six weeks, supported by industry workshops and mentoring led by our team at Ameon HQ to enhance their knowledge. Entries were judged on factors including technical accuracy, budgets, risk management and timescales.

Congratulations to the winning team - Cass, Ezra, Jacob, Nathan and Raihan – whose proposal stood out for its attention to detail, teamwork and professionalism. Their prize of Amazon vouchers was awarded to each member of the team by Ameon’s construction director Dave Scott 🏆🤝

Dave said: “We wanted to make sure this challenge would truly reflect what the students are going to encounter in the future when working in their chosen careers. We’ve been seriously impressed with the effort put forward and it was a pleasure to facilitate.

“Well done to our worthy winners, and all who took part. We hope you will take this experience and the valuable feedback and put it to good use as you move forward.”

Aimi O’Donnell, social value lead at Blackpool Council, said: “This was a brilliant challenge for the students and a true insight into industry. Ameon really committed to this project and invested their time in supporting emerging talent in the town.

“The winning group stood out — they produced a strong, well-thought-through concept and presented it with real assurance to directors, the client and the project manager. It would be great to see this happen again next year, earlier in the curriculum so they can see the finished article.”

A fantastic example of industry and education working together to inspire the next generation of construction professionals👏

We’re pleased to welcome the latest cohort of apprentices to the Ameon team 🔌🔧📚

Our five mechanical apprentices, Harry, Christian, Henry, Kai and Charlie, are completing their apprenticeships through Blackpool and The Fylde College, while the four electrical, Levi, Patryk, Louis and Max, will be completing theirs through JTL and Preston College.

It’s always been a priority to provide opportunities for those looking to get a start in our industry. Working in partnership with training and education providers, our apprenticeship pathways have been specially designed to develop the next generation of skilled mechanical and electrical workers.

Tom Scott, contracts manager and mentor to the electrical apprentices, said: “Employing apprentices is a way for businesses to nurture fresh talent, develop skills that are directly relevant to their operations, and build a workforce that grows alongside the company. Combining on-the-job experience with structured training not only addresses immediate staffing needs but also creates a pipeline of skilled professionals who understand the organisation’s culture, values, and long-term objectives.

“For the apprentices, this is a huge opportunity to develop themselves both professionally and personally, and I’m looking forward to being part of each of their journeys as they grow and progress.”

Phil Richards, principal project manager and mechanical apprentice mentor, added: “It’s always exciting to welcome the newest apprentices to the team. Many Ameon employees began their careers with an apprenticeship, which I’m sure will serve as inspiration for what can be achieved with hard work and determination.”

It was a pleasure to be shown around the Vault, Preston Youth Zone by Mel Killiliea this morning.

Part of the national youth charity OnSide, Vault is a new state-of-the-art facility in Preston which provides a safe space, activities and opportunities for young people aged 8-19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs.

As a Founder Patron, Ameon has pledged financial support to Vault as part of a four-year partnership, as it works to empower and inspire young people, helping to set them up for the future.

From cooking classes, employability skills and music lessons to a media centre, rock climbing, sensory room and gym, there’s something for everybody at Vault – with accessibility and inclusion at the forefront of what has been created.

The facilities are fantastic, but best of all was hearing about the positive impact this space has already been having on the lives of the young people using it.

Thanks for the tour Mel, we’re looking forward to sharing more about the great things happening at Vault.

A huge well done to Ameon’s James Higham and his daughter Faith, who recently took part in a gruelling Total Warrior event to raise money for the brilliant Vault, Preston Youth Zone 💪

They teamed up to tackle the 6K course which features challenging obstacles including peaks of pain, hang tough and leap of faith, as well as a lot of mud!

The Vault centre is a new state-of-the-art facility in Preston which was created to provide a safe space, activities and opportunities for young people, from cooking classes and employability skills to music lessons and rock climbing - as well as somewhere to simply hang out with friends.

Faith visits Vault regularly and is a member of the girls’ football team, so wanted to do something to give back.

The funds raised will go towards Vault’s annual maintenance costs, so if you’re able to help increase the total, you can donate here: https://givewheel.com/fundraising/18303/vault-youth-zone-preston/

What a worthy cause – well done James and Faith 👏

Ameon is proud to have played a part in three projects that were successful at the recent North West Regional Construction Awards 🏆 🏆 🏆

It was the 20th year of the awards, which celebrate excellence, innovation and collaboration within the region’s built environment sector, with the ceremony held at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 – 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 was awarded to No 1 Ancoats Green (Rodney Street) for which Ameon provided full MEP installation, with Wates Group delivering the scheme for Manchester City Council. The project saw the transformation of a brownfield site in Ancoats and the creation of new homes with a focus on sustainability and energy-efficiency.

There was also success in the 𝗦𝘂𝗯-𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 – 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗲 category, for the University of Lancashire’s prestigious new School of Veterinary Medicine; our work with Morgan Sindall Construction, installing state-of-the-art MEP systems, helping to create the first facility of its kind in Lancashire, and only the second in the North of England.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗯-𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 – 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 award went to The University Collegiate School Bolton and Galliford Try, a significant extension and refurbishment project we helped deliver, completing a full MEP installation, resulting in the provision of first-class learning facilities for young people.

Dave Scott, construction director at Ameon, said: “Congratulations to all our valued clients involved in these award-winning developments. We experience first-hand the impact these types of projects have on people and communities, so to receive the industry recognition on top is fantastic. It also shines a light on what can be achieved through strong partnerships and innovative collaboration within the construction sector.”

We want to say a big thanks to the Rise Construction Framework for having Ameon’s Michaela and Rob take part in their 2026 fundraiser - an aerobics class led by the legendary Mr Motivator 🏋️

Held at BOXPARK Liverpool, it was a brilliant day all in aid of Mr Motivator's Bed Bank, set up by the man himself, Derrick Evans MBE. Bed Bank works to raise awareness and funds to support organisations tackling bed poverty head-on – there are nearly one million children in homes across the UK without a proper bed to call their own.

It was great to see so many people joining together for such an important cause – and in some fantastic outfits 👌

The event raised an incredible £25,000 - well done to Rise and all involved! 👏

Congratulations are in order for Ameon’s Calum Wraith, who was named the STEM Apprentice of the Year at the Blackpool and The Fylde College Apprenticeship Awards 2026 🏆🎉

The ceremony, held at Blackpool Football Club, was a celebration of apprenticeships at B&FC and recognised outstanding individuals and employers across 15 categories.

The judging panel commended Calum for being ‘passionate, humble and energetic.’

Following the completion of his building services engineering craftsperson apprenticeship with Ameon last summer, Calum graduated to the role of heating and ventilation engineer.

Calum said: “I can’t really put into words how I felt when my name was announced.

“Doing an apprenticeship changed the course of my career and I’m now on the right path. They’re a fantastic opportunity to earn as you learn, develop skills and put them to use while working towards your chosen qualification.

“Thank you to my tutors and mentors at Blackpool and the Fylde College and Ameon, I’m grateful for the support and to be where I am now. To anyone considering an apprenticeship, I’d say go for it.”

Calum’s Ameon apprenticeship mentor and principal project manager, Phil Richards, added: “Apprenticeships can offer real rewards for those who put the work in, and Calum is a brilliant example of this. The award is a reflection of his progression and achievements and I’m proud of how far he’s come.”

Well done Calum! 👏
