Congratulations are in order for Ameon’s Calum Wraith, who was named the STEM Apprentice of the Year at the Blackpool and The Fylde College Apprenticeship Awards 2026 🏆🎉

The ceremony, held at Blackpool Football Club, was a celebration of apprenticeships at B&FC and recognised outstanding individuals and employers across 15 categories.

The judging panel commended Calum for being ‘passionate, humble and energetic.’

Following the completion of his building services engineering craftsperson apprenticeship with Ameon last summer, Calum graduated to the role of heating and ventilation engineer.

Calum said: “I can’t really put into words how I felt when my name was announced.

“Doing an apprenticeship changed the course of my career and I’m now on the right path. They’re a fantastic opportunity to earn as you learn, develop skills and put them to use while working towards your chosen qualification.

“Thank you to my tutors and mentors at Blackpool and the Fylde College and Ameon, I’m grateful for the support and to be where I am now. To anyone considering an apprenticeship, I’d say go for it.”

Calum’s Ameon apprenticeship mentor and principal project manager, Phil Richards, added: “Apprenticeships can offer real rewards for those who put the work in, and Calum is a brilliant example of this. The award is a reflection of his progression and achievements and I’m proud of how far he’s come.”

A huge well done to Ameon’s Tom Desjardines who has been named the North West Regional Apprentice of the Year at the JTL Regional Apprentice Awards 🏆👏

The awards celebrate excellence in apprenticeship training and highlight the dedication, skill and commitment demonstrated by individuals helping to shape the future of the building services engineering sector.

Tom completed his four-year electrical apprenticeship with us through JTL and Preston College, before being employed by Ameon and recently becoming a supervisor.

He said: ‘Doing an apprenticeship in an area you’re interested in is a great way to make real life connections and paths for your future, and it was definitely the right choice for me.

‘To win the award felt like I had achieved something great following my journey from school to now. It was a moment for that to be recognised professionally, which made me even more motivated to develop further.

‘I’m so grateful for the training and support I’ve received from Ameon’s project management team, which has enabled me to develop my career and achieve my goals.’

Tom will now attend the national awards ceremony, which takes place in London on June 10.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented design coordinator to join our growing MEP design team. This role is ideal for someone either at the early stages of their career, who is eager to develop or someone with experience who can work independently across multidisciplinary building services projects.

You will support the coordination, review and delivery of MEP designs, ensuring that all systems are integrated effectively within project requirements, timelines and quality standards.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• Coordinate MEP design information across mechanical, electrical, and public health disciplines
• Review drawings, models, and specifications to identify clashes and inconsistencies
• Support the implementation of BIM processes and ensure accurate model coordination
• Liaise with engineers, architects, contractors, internal project team and other stakeholders to facilitate design integration
• Maintain organised records of design changes, revisions and documentation
• Attend external design team meetings/workshops and internal project team meetings and prepare minutes/action trackers
• Liaise with internal commercial and contracts team relating to project matters
• Ensure compliance with project specifications/employers’ requirements, regulations, and company procedures
• Assist in resolving design-related issues during both pre-construction and construction phases

𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱:
• Good understanding of MEP systems and building services design principles
• Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit (BIM knowledge is a plus)
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good communication and teamwork abilities
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
• Awareness of relevant industry regulations and standards
• Understanding of BIM Level 2 standards and coordination workflows
• Bachelor’s degree (or working toward) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field

Ameon's Michaela and Rob are gearing up to take part in the Rise Construction Framework 2026 fundraiser - an aerobics class led by the one and only Mr Motivator 🏋️💪

Taking place at BOXPARK Liverpool next month, it's all in aid of the brilliant Mr Motivator's Bed Bank charity, set up by Mr Motivator - Derrick Evans MBE.

There are nearly one million children in homes across the UK without a proper bed to call their own, instead sleeping on floors or sofas. Bed Bank works to raise awareness and funds, and supports organisations tackling bed poverty head-on.

A huge well done to Ameon's John Ward who recently competed in the final of Dance Floor Heroes, a ballroom dancing event organised to raise money for a charity which supports mental health and physical wellbeing through dance 🪩

Electrician John took to the Winter Gardens Blackpool's Empress Ballroom dancefloor in aid of Tia's Crown, performing a paso doble with professional partner Wendy. Though they weren't crowned champions, John more than did himself proud, raising an amazing £3,800 for the charity in the process (the highest amount of any of the finalists 👏).

Prior to the final, John also took part in a 'wax off' to raise additional funds - unfortunately, we've no footage from that one to share 👀

John's going to continue his hobby of dancing along with his wife Sallyanne and has also signed up to take part in a team routine in November for the same cause.

John said: 'I'm so thankful to everyone who made a donation in support of Tia's Crown. When I was asked to enter this competition, I was a bit unsure at first. But after seeing the work Tia's Crown has done for people and how dance helps, it was a no-brainer. Well done to all the finalists and everyone involved in making this happen - it really was a fantastic night with lots of funds raised for the charity. Between all the contestants we raised around £24,000 in total and I feel proud and humble to have raised the highest amount.'

We’re looking for an experienced FM manager to join our busy maintenance department.

This role would suit an organised and forward-thinking person, who is able to work well under pressure, and has the motivation required to improve department processes and drive growth.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of facilities operations, ensuring all services are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard, working from both Ameon’s head office in Blackpool and on site where required.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
• Driving FM sales activity, identifying new business opportunities and securing new maintenance and facilities management contracts

• Ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations and Health and Safety standards
• Overseeing planned and reactive maintenance contracts and call outs
• Management and coordination of subcontractors
• Monitoring budgets, controlling costs and reporting on performance

Everyone at Ameon is getting behind electrician John Ward as he prepares for the final of a ballroom dancing competition to raise money for charity.

Dance Floor Heroes is taking place in aid of Tia's Crown, which was set up to support mental health and physical wellbeing through dance, and give back to the communities and organisations which need it most.

The final will be held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens Blackpool on Friday May 1st, where John and his professional dance partner Wendy, along with 11 other couples, will take to the floor under the watchful eye of the judges – Dan Whiston, Pasha Kovalev, James Jordan and Graziano Di Prima.

John has only been ballroom dancing for the last 12 months, having taken it up as a hobby with his wife. Join us in congratulating Ameon’s Tom Warwick, who has joined our executive team after being promoted to building services director 👏

Tom, whose career began with an electrical apprenticeship, joined Ameon in 2011 as an installation electrician. He progressed to aftercare manager in 2019, before moving on to head up our FM and aftercare department in 2021, becoming principal contracts manager in 2023.

As building services director, Tom will oversee the three areas of the department: direct works, maintenance and aftercare, leading a team of engineers delivering building services for clients in both the public and private sector across the North West and beyond.

Robin Lawson, managing director, said: “Tom’s appointment to director reflects the impact he’s had and the contribution he’s made to both the business and to our clients in the 15 years since joining Ameon.

“His promotion also demonstrates our continued objective to develop and expand our departments and teams internally, while continuing to deliver the highest standard of services.
