Do you know how to perform CPR, or where your nearest defibrillator is?

Every year in the UK, 40,000 people have an out of hospital cardiac arrest, with the chance of survival less than 10%.

While on a family holiday in the summer, our estimating director Scott’s father-in-law had a cardiac arrest. With immediate CPR by family, the use of a nearby defibrillator and the fast response from Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance, he defied the odds and is thankfully still here to tell the tale.

We’re sharing this because today is Restart a Heart Day, which raises awareness of cardiac arrest and the importance of learning CPR.

We’ve had a defibrillator fitted at Ameon HQ and are providing the necessary training to give our team the skills and confidence to use it in the event of a cardiac arrest.

It could save a life ❤️

Our sister company 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗨𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 was also successful, with Roy Hinton and Oliver Hay both winning the 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 – 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – meaning the two companies took away five of the eight awards in that category.

Ameon is thrilled to be supporting the Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre District Team U13 boys’ squad as kit sponsor for the 2026/27 season ⚽👕🤝

District football brings together children from different schools to represent an area in matches against other district teams, giving them the opportunity to test themselves alongside players from other clubs at both academy and grassroots levels, and take pride in representing their region.

Part of the English Schools' Football Association (EFSA), the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre District has boys, girls and mixed teams from age U11 to U16. All coaches are volunteers, with the teams depending on sponsorship to help fund kits and other equipment.

Craig Andrews, U13 manager, said: “The standard at trials was incredibly high. We have a fantastic squad on the pitch, and it’s brilliant to have Ameon backing the lads off it by sponsoring their kit.

“Wearing the district badge means a great deal to the boys and Ameon’s support helps them look and feel like a team as they represent Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre across the North West.”

Ameon is thrilled to be supporting the Thrive Careers Hub as part of our place on the Rise Construction Framework.

Thrive is a coffee shop with a difference - it’s a place where support workers can help young people find work, providing guidance on CVs and interviews and connecting them with local employers. It also provides services relating to housing, debt and health and wellbeing, as well as access to food banks.

Back in May, we challenged a group of Blackpool and The Fylde College electrical T Level students to put their understanding of real-world construction processes to the test 🏗️📋

Working in teams, the students developed and presented electrical installation proposals in six weeks, supported by industry workshops and mentoring led by our team at Ameon HQ to enhance their knowledge. Entries were judged on factors including technical accuracy, budgets, risk management and timescales.

Congratulations to the winning team - Cass, Ezra, Jacob, Nathan and Raihan – whose proposal stood out for its attention to detail, teamwork and professionalism. Their prize of Amazon vouchers was awarded to each member of the team by Ameon’s construction director Dave Scott 🏆🤝

Dave said: “We wanted to make sure this challenge would truly reflect what the students are going to encounter in the future when working in their chosen careers. We’ve been seriously impressed with the effort put forward and it was a pleasure to facilitate.

“Well done to our worthy winners, and all who took part. We hope you will take this experience and the valuable feedback and put it to good use as you move forward.”

Aimi O’Donnell, social value lead at Blackpool Council, said: “This was a brilliant challenge for the students and a true insight into industry. Ameon really committed to this project and invested their time in supporting emerging talent in the town.

“The winning group stood out — they produced a strong, well-thought-through concept and presented it with real assurance to directors, the client and the project manager. It would be great to see this happen again next year, earlier in the curriculum so they can see the finished article.”

We’re pleased to welcome the latest cohort of apprentices to the Ameon team 🔌🔧📚

Our five mechanical apprentices, Harry, Christian, Henry, Kai and Charlie, are completing their apprenticeships through Blackpool and The Fylde College, while the four electrical, Levi, Patryk, Louis and Max, will be completing theirs through JTL and Preston College.

It’s always been a priority to provide opportunities for those looking to get a start in our industry. Working in partnership with training and education providers, our apprenticeship pathways have been specially designed to develop the next generation of skilled mechanical and electrical workers.

Tom Scott, contracts manager and mentor to the electrical apprentices, said: “Employing apprentices is a way for businesses to nurture fresh talent, develop skills that are directly relevant to their operations, and build a workforce that grows alongside the company. Combining on-the-job experience with structured training not only addresses immediate staffing needs but also creates a pipeline of skilled professionals who understand the organisation’s culture, values, and long-term objectives.

“For the apprentices, this is a huge opportunity to develop themselves both professionally and personally, and I’m looking forward to being part of each of their journeys as they grow and progress.”

Phil Richards, principal project manager and mechanical apprentice mentor, added: “It’s always exciting to welcome the newest apprentices to the team. Many Ameon employees began their careers with an apprenticeship, which I’m sure will serve as inspiration for what can be achieved with hard work and determination.”
