All timber has at least one ideal use, at Shropshire Hardwoods we use the right species for the right job.

This 50-60 year old cedar shingle shows how important this is.

It is not rotten, just worn away by wind and weather.

We had the pleasure of fitting out a shop for the Poetry Pharmacy in York. As always, a great team to work with 👍

We started with a floor plan in Bishops Castle, and we set about making all the fittings fit inside our dimensions.

After everything was altered and adjusted to suit we then delivered it to York where we assembled all the fittings and made it a shop worthy of holding the Poetry Pharmacy name 👌

This huge wind blown English Oak is from a local estate and is destined for one of our upcoming joinery projects.

We have estimated it to have a volume of 471 cubic feet or 13.3 cubic metres it is 17 metres long and has a mid diameter of 1.1m.

Once at our yard we will mill it for The joinery to manufacture a Staircase, Wardrobes, Doors, Skirting boards, Door linings and Architraves .

We will then return all the joinery to the estate to be installed into a new build for the landowner.

We will post updates as the project progresses over the next 12 months.

This is the final phase of one of our projects that has been ongoing for over 20 years.

This large country house was built in 1920 using materials repurposed from a dismantled estate stable block and Manse .During the great depression all work was scaled back or even stopped .Doors,skirtings ,architraves and wardrobes were ,from that day on made using the cheapest materials available.

In about 2004 we were commissioned by the new owners to carry on from where the original work had ceased. When we first arrived You could see exactly where the fine joinery had stopped at the start of the depression and the cheap substitute joinery had started.

Over the last 20 or more years we have been back many times removing the interior joinery and replacing it all with appropriate bespoke English Oak Joinery.

The house Today is exactly as intended all those years ago. All of us at Shropshire Hardwoods would like to thank the owners for inviting us into their home to carry out such a unique project.

Ironically, part way through this project our work was halted by the great recession of 2008.
