Progress is being made on another major project by JD Contractors! 💪

The new kerbs are finally going in, set on a solid kerb brace and ready for the next phase of construction. 👷‍♂️

Before installation, we:
🚜 Reduced dig to formation level
🪨 Rebuilt the foundation using 6F2 and Type 1 MOT sub-base
📏 Completed all works to full Highways Specification
✅ Carried out CBR testing to ensure the ground met the required standards before construction continued.

Another great job completed by JD Contractors!

This yard at Russ Plainings had seen better days, with potholes and an uneven surface causing problems.

Our team got to work by:
✅ Ripping up the existing surface using a toothed bucket
✅ Regrading and levelling the yard
✅ Allowing the recent rainfall to naturally bind the material together
✅ Leaving it to dry for four days
✅ Finishing with a 120 roller to achieve a solid, durable surface

Sometimes the weather works in your favour! 🌦️ What initially looked like a setback with the rain actually helped bind the material, leaving the yard firm, level, and ready for heavy use. 👌

🚧 Retaining Wall Reconstruction Update 🚧

A challenging project making great progress! 💪

The existing retaining wall had completely failed and moved significantly, making demolition the only safe option. Due to extremely restricted access, the excavation had to be carried out using a 3-ton excavator, taking 3 days to complete—a job that would normally be tackled with a much larger machine. 🚜

✅ New reinforced concrete footings have now been installed at depths of:
📏 2.0m
📏 2.2m
📏 2.5m

🏗️ The footings are 1.5m wide, with 30m³ of concrete poured to create a solid foundation for the new retaining wall.

Next, we’ll be installing the reinforced steel cages and rebar before constructing the new structural retaining wall. Every stage is completed to the highest standard, ensuring a safe, long-lasting solution. 👷‍♂️🔩
