These blockages can be massively disruptive, so we’d love to hear from our network: what do you think companies can do to help the public understand why wipes should never be flushed?

Fantastic to be back on site with our friends at Westpoint Construction on a Vistry Group site in the Midlands!

We know that keeping projects moving smoothly is what matters most to to our partners and their teams.

Faced with a tricky blockage on site, our team was called in to investigate and clear the issue. Thanks to quick communication, specialist equipment, and the expertise of the RS team we were able to resolve the problem efficiently and keep the project on track.

These kinds of challenges are part and parcel of busy construction sites, but with the right expertise on hand, they don’t need to become delays.

Proud to share another successful collaboration with the great team at Westpoint Construction on a Staffordshire site.

We tackled a blocked manhole and ensured the problem wouldn't come back! Our team thoroughly cleared the obstruction, then installed new benching to smooth the flow and prepare the manhole for site adoption.

Manhole benching might not be the most visible part of a drainage system, but it’s essential for long-term reliability and hassle-free inspections, especially where an issue has been identified.

Thanks to this work, the site’s drainage infrastructure is now in top shape and ready for the next phase of development, minimising risks of blockages or delays at adoption.

If you’re preparing a site for adoption or just want to keep your drainage running smoothly, get in touch with the team that gets it done right.

A critical but often overlooked element of site adoption is manhole benching. This process smooths and shapes the internal channels within manholes to ensure efficient, trouble free flow of wastewater.

Proper benching:
✅ Prevents sediment build up and blockages
✅ Reduces the risk of structural damage
✅ Improves overall system longevity and reliability

At RS Surveys, we specialise in expert manhole benching to make sure that your drainage is up to standard and ready for adoption inspections.

Pleased to share another successful NHS project recently completed by our RS Surveys team in the Midlands.

This time, we carried out a scheduled CCTV drainage survey across a complex site, providing a clear view of the health of the system without any disruption to daily operations.

Our team mapped and assessed the entire drainage network with precision, delivering detailed reports that allow our NHS partners to plan future maintenance with confidence. In healthcare environments, system reliability is a non-negotiable.

Routine surveys like these are a vital part of proactive maintenance for high dependency sites like hospitals. Identifying issues early means that they can be addressed before they escalate into disruptive emergencies.

We’re proud to support our NHS with services that keep their infrastructure running smoothly. If you’re managing a site where uptime is critical, regular CCTV surveys are a top investment:

We see it all too often, blocked pipes, backed-up drains, and expensive emergency callouts. All caused by one small but mighty culprit: wet wipes.

Even the ones labelled "flushable" or "biodegradable" don’t belong in the toilet. Why? Because drainage systems simply aren’t built to handle them.

Unlike toilet paper, wet wipes don’t break down. Instead, they cling to pipe walls, catch on joints and bends, and snowball into massive blockages. Mix in fats, oils and grease, and you’ve got yourself a fatberg.

The consequences? Big disruption. Bigger clean-up costs. Overflow risks. And environmental harm when waste ends up where it shouldn’t.

We’re on the ground every day tackling issues like this and we’d much rather prevent them than respond to them!

Another day, another successful job completed by the RS Surveys team, this time tackling a severely silted-up manhole, completely filled with compacted clay.

This wasn’t your everyday clean up. The job required working at depth in challenging conditions, calling on the vast experience of our team and the power of our top tier equipment.

Thanks to their efforts, the drainage system is now fully operational once again avoiding any risk of overflow, flooding, or disruption to surrounding infrastructure.

At RS Surveys, we pride ourselves on our ability to handle the tough jobs quickly, safely, and with minimal disruption.
