Notice a cold spot on your radiator today? 🥶

It’s a classic October problem! You’ve finally turned the heating on, you walk past a radiator, and… it’s cold in the middle or at the bottom. It can be so frustrating when you just want to get cosy.

The good news? It’s usually caused by one of two things, and you might be able to fix one of them yourself!

Cold at the top? It’s probably air.
Over the summer, air can get trapped in your radiators. If you have a radiator key, you can try "bleeding" it. Just turn the valve at the top gently until you hear a hiss of air, and once water starts to trickle out, close it back up. It’s a simple trick that often solves the problem instantly!

Cold at the bottom? It’s likely sludge.
This is a bit trickier. Over time, tiny bits of rust and debris (sludge) settle at the bottom of your radiators, blocking the hot water from getting through. If bleeding doesn't work, it usually means your system needs a proper "power flush" to clear those pipes out.

When should you give us a shout?
If you’ve tried bleeding your radiators and they’re still cold, or if you notice your boiler is making strange noises, it’s best to let a professional take a look. We can check if your system needs a deep clean so you aren't paying extra on your energy bills just to heat up sludge!

More space, more efficiency – a Walsall system-to-combi upgrade.

We recently visited a home in Walsall where a 25-year-old Potterton Flamingo was still doing its job, but taking up way too much room. With old tanks in the cupboard and dated pipework, the homeowner decided it was time for a smart, planned upgrade.
