🌰 Acorn to Oak | Staircase Transformation ✨

Old turned spindles and posts out and replaced with new square edge oak for a much cleaner, more modern look 👌🪵

Full balustrade changed including new handrails, baserails, spindles and newel details, all fitted and adjusted to suit the existing staircase.

Finished throughout with shadow gap newel caps on every post—including all the half posts—which look absolutely spot on and really elevate the finished look 🔥✨

The existing staircase stringers were also clad with oak facings and capped in solid oak, helping carry the oak throughout and giving the whole staircase a much more complete, premium finish 🌳

The landing step edge was fully replaced with solid oak bullnose, then neatly finished underneath with matching oak trim for a clean seamless detail 👌

Before any of the finishing work could begin, the lower winder step needed significant structural attention, as it was badly loose and required careful strengthening and stabilising to get everything solid and ready for the new installation 🔧

Quite a bit of detail work involved on this one—making good where the old staircase came out, infilling gaps, adjusting sections where needed, and getting everything lined through properly so everything flows exactly as it should.

🔥 Out-of-Square Cottage? No Problem.

This cottage space was crying out for something with a bit more life and character… so it got a full upgrade 👌

Installed engineered oak flooring (5mm wear layer) — giving it that solid, high-end feel and proper longevity.
Added solid oak detailing around the fireplace hearth, built a custom step for the level change, and handmade a transition bar to join into the carpeted room so everything flows properly.
Skirting boards carefully removed and refitted for the best possible finish 👌

Not a straightforward one either… nothing in here was square 🤦‍♂️ so the whole room had to be set out and worked off the fireplace to keep all the lines looking right 📐

These are the jobs where the small details matter — and when it all comes together like this, it’s worth it 💪🔥

Something a bit more traditional on this one 🔨✨

Two reclaimed pine doors carefully restored and rehung in a period property in Moseley 🏡🪵 The aim here was to keep everything in keeping with the age and character of the home rather than going modern.

Both doors were prepped, adjusted and hung on traditional hardware ⚒️ then finished off with classic rim lock and handle setups to suit the style 🔑🚪

These jobs take a bit more care to get right, but the end result speaks for itself — proper character brought back into the space 👌

🚪✨ Full Internal Door Upgrade

Completed a full set of 7 internal doors on this one — giving the whole hallway a clean, consistent finish 👇

🪵 Oak veneer cottage-style doors throughout
🪟 1 glazed door to allow natural light through
🔒 Bathroom door fitted with sashlock & thumbturn for privacy
⚫ Finished with black hinges, handles & latches for a modern contrast

All materials supplied by the customer, professionally fitted and adjusted for a perfect finish 👌

Simple upgrade, but it completely sharpens up the look of the whole space 🏡

🔴 Making the Most of a Small box room with awkward space

This room was a really tricky size — not much usable floor space and limited options 🤔

The goal was simple:
➡️ Create proper storage
➡️ Maximise usable floor space
➡️ Keep it safe and practical for everyday use

With a fun brief as well — a Pokémon-themed room ⚡🔴

Here’s what we did 👇

🧱 Built a raised bed platform to free up floor space
📦 Integrated custom storage underneath
🪜 Added safe, solid stair access
🎨 Fully finished in durable white paint
🎮 Design kept in line with the Pokémon theme to tie everything together

Now the room works properly — loads more usable space, plenty of storage, and safe access up top 👌

A great example of how smart carpentry can completely change how a room functions 🏡

✨ From Dated to Modern in One Staircase

This one had a full refresh from the old dark timber to a clean, modern finish 👇

🪵 Oak handrails & caps installed
🎨 White posts and spindles for a brighter look
🛠 Fully reworked lower section to suit the layout
📐 Everything made to measure and fitted on site
🎨 Finished in durable white paint & Osmo oil on the oak for a natural, long-lasting finish

The contrast between the natural oak and crisp white completely changes the feel of the hallway — much lighter and more modern 👌

A proper upgrade that not only looks better but improves the overall space massively 🏡

🔨 Staircase Upgrade Completed

This staircase was missing the lower balustrade which left the bottom section open and unsafe ⚠️

I installed a new section of balustrade to match the existing staircase, including:

🪵 New newel post
📏 Handrail and base rail
🪚 Matching spindles
🛠 Handmade newel caps made in the workshop to match the existing design

Everything was carefully fitted so the new section ties in with the original staircase and looks like it has always been there 👌

Small changes like this can make a big difference — improving both the safety and the overall finish of a hallway 🏡

🔧 Misted Double Glazing Replaced – Clear View Restored!

This upstairs window had failed double-glazed units which had completely misted up over time.

When the seal goes on a unit, moisture gets trapped between the panes and you end up with that cloudy look that never wipes off — the only proper fix is replacing the glass unit itself.

✔ Old misted units removed
✔ New sealed double-glazed units fitted
✔ Crystal clear view of the garden again

No need to replace the whole window — just the glass 👍
