There’s a boiler service… and then there’s a strip-down service. 🔧
A standard annual service is designed to check that your boiler is operating safely and correctly. But when a more thorough service is required, a strip-down allows the engineer to go deeper.
Components are removed where appropriate, giving access to areas such as the burner, heat exchanger and combustion chamber for closer inspection and cleaning before everything is carefully reassembled and tested.
And importantly — a strip-down isn’t something every boiler automatically needs every year. The correct servicing requirements depend on the appliance manufacturer’s instructions and what the engineer finds during the service.

A strip-down service goes beyond the checks carried out during a standard boiler service. Components are removed where required, allowing the engineer to access, inspect and clean areas deeper inside the boiler.
A standard service checks that your boiler is operating safely and correctly. A strip-down goes further, giving the engineer greater access to internal components and the combustion area for a more thorough inspection and clean.
The boiler is carefully dismantled in accordance with the manufacturer’s servicing procedure, with relevant components removed to access areas that aren’t normally disturbed during a routine service.
The burner and associated components can be removed, inspected and thoroughly cleaned, helping to remove deposits and identify signs of deterioration or damage.
With components removed, the engineer can gain better access to the heat exchanger and combustion area, allowing these areas to be inspected and cleaned where required.
Once the inspection and cleaning are complete, the boiler is carefully reassembled. Relevant seals, components and connections are checked before the boiler is tested to ensure it is operating safely and correctly.
