Kris, one of the main directors here at Prestige Stairlifts, has taken delivery of his brand-new VW Transporter, freshly signwritten in our new company colours — and we think it looks fantastic!

This year is particularly special for us as we proudly celebrate 20 years in business. 🎉

⚠️ CHOOSING A STAIRLIFT? WHO WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU NEED THEM?

We’ve noticed a growing number of newly established stairlift companies advertising “national coverage” almost from day one.

Competition is healthy, but when buying something as important as a stairlift, price is only part of the decision. The real question is:

Who will look after you once it’s fitted?

At Prestige Stairlifts, we’re increasingly hearing from customers who bought elsewhere and are struggling to get an engineer when something goes wrong. Some have been told they could be waiting a week or more with an unusable stairlift.

We’ve also encountered customers who believed they were buying a brand-new stairlift, only to discover the equipment installed appeared to be reconditioned or previously used. Always ensure your paperwork clearly states NEW or RECONDITIONED.

Think of it like your boiler. If it breaks down in winter, you want a reliable local engineer — not someone hundreds of miles away. A stairlift should be no different.

In fact, it can be even more important. Handrails are sometimes removed or altered to accommodate a stairlift. If the lift then stops working, the stairs can become even more difficult and potentially dangerous for the person relying on it.

♿ Another great installation completed for Eastbourne Borough Council!

We’ve just installed this lovely Oto internal three-floor stairlift, providing a fantastic backup solution should the building’s main passenger lift ever be out of service.

This neat installation travels across three floors – ground floor, first floor and second floor – providing smooth and reliable access throughout the building.

The stairlift parks neatly out of the way at the bottom when not required and stops smoothly at both the first and second floors, making excellent use of the available staircase.

It’s a brilliant solution for Eastbourne Borough Council, ensuring they have an alternative means of access in place should the main passenger lift ever break down.

🚨 Another shocking stairlift call-out in Hastings, East Sussex today… 🚨

Today our engineers attended an emergency call-out to a stairlift that had been installed just 12 months ago.

What we found was deeply concerning.

The rail had been sprayed with a rattle can, the installation had been carried out incorrectly, and the stairlift was not safe to use. During our inspection, the lift repeatedly sparked as it contacted the charging plate, presenting a potential fire risk.

Following a full safety inspection, we had no option but to condemn the stairlift and advise the customer that it should no longer be used.

Sadly, the company that installed the stairlift showed no interest in attending to resolve the faults, leaving the customer in a very difficult position. We have now carried out a technical survey so that a safe replacement stairlift can be manufactured and installed.

⚠️ This is why choosing the right stairlift company matters.

Many companies spend huge amounts on online advertising but don’t actually employ their own engineers. Instead, they subcontract installations to third parties, meaning you often have no idea who will be fitting one of the most important pieces of mobility equipment in your home.
