💧 Pinhole leak found & repaired
This customer returned home from holiday to find wet carpets and water staining on the ceiling below which is never a nice thing to come back to!
After investigating the source of the leak, I found a tiny pinhole in the body of the thermostatic mixing valve (TMV). It was hidden underneath the adjustment cap, spraying water inside the cap before slowly running down the valve and into the surrounding area.
The faulty TMV was replaced and the system tested. While checking everything over afterwards, I also found a second, extremely small weep on a nearby connection which was barely visible to the eye, but detectable with a bit of patience and blue roll.
That connection was stripped down, cleaned, remade and tested again. Everything left bone dry and working as it should. 👍
It always pays to check the whole area rather than simply repairing the first obvious fault.

🚰 Slow-draining basin sorted today
Called back to a basin waste I recently fitted as it had been draining poorly for some time and had now become considerably worse.
The trap was removed and checked first but found to be completely clear, so the blockage was traced further along the waste pipework.
The waste was mechanically cleared, removing a substantial build-up of soap emulsion and product residue and debris from inside the pipe.
Further investigation outside also found the waste pipe terminating with an uphill section, allowing water and debris to sit in the pipework. The outlet was altered to provide a proper fall into the drain.
Everything reassembled, thoroughly tested and the basin is now draining properly again. 👍

🚽 Cistern refurbishment today
An older toilet with worn, corroded and seized components causing problems. Rather than replacing the complete toilet, the cistern was stripped down and refurbished using a Dudley flush valve and fill valve repair kit.
New isolation valve also fitted to replace the old leaking one, leaving everything working properly and leak-free again. 👍

🚽 Another toilet brought back to life! 🚽
This older cistern was suffering from a number of issues, so rather than replacing the whole toilet, a full internal overhaul was carried out.
✅ Complete strip out of existing internals
✅ New fill valve installed
✅ New flush valve fitted
✅ New seals and washers throughout
✅ Cistern fully serviced and recommissioned
✅ Old redundant overflow capped off
The customer can now enjoy a reliable, leak-free toilet without the expense of a complete replacement.
Sometimes a full cistern service is all that's needed to give an older toilet many more years of life.
