Where do our trees go when they leave the nursery?
Cheviot Trees was proud to sponsor the charteredforesters Study Tour in the North of England.
Jonathan and Marc spent two great days following the supply chain from planting to sawmilling, alongside engaging talks on nature recovery and recreation with Wild Kielder.
Having supplied millions of trees to forests in the Kielder area over the years, a real highlight was touring the seriously impressive James Jones Durham sawmill.
Watching logs processed that may have started in our nursery 35 to 40 years ago was incredible, highlighting how sawn timber drives the sustainable bioeconomy as a renewable, low-carbon resource.
It was brilliant catching up with so many customers and colleagues. Huge thanks to the charteredforesters for their excellent organising and forestryengland, and jamesjonesandsonsltd for hosting.
