W.E.P

We were approached to design an incredibly sensitive small scale building by a daughter and her mother who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

The woven escape pod is designed to allow just that an escape from the current converted barn. The existing building has very little connection to nature. The W.E.P is designed as an object within the garden, immersed in nature.

A scientific study “JAMA open network” concluded that nature exposure helps Parkinson’s by slowing disease progression, improving motor function, and easing mental health symptoms.

Time to reveal our design for the museum of architectures - bonsai treehouses.

This is ‘forager’s house’ watch the forager come to London in search of his home. From the scale model to the architecture, ideas within this exhibition entry could have real life implications in boosting biodiversity

Excited to present a sneak peak of “forager’s house”, in collaboration with exhibition bonsai treehouses, in association with .

foragers house:

Designed around the theme of symbiotic “togetherness,” Forager’s House scales down our practice’s biodiversity-boosting research into a living micro-infrastructure.

Crafted from salvaged FSC timber offcuts, the organic structure mimics epiphytic fungi. Laser-etched “spore-slots” and timber ribs anchor a tightly packed roofscape of moss and mushroom substrate, creating a functional farm accessible via a tiny forager’s portal.

The structure relies on the bonsai for shade, while the architecture retains moisture and channels nutrients back to the tree’s roots. It proves that architecture can transcend shelter, actively generating food and life for the common good of all species.

Buckland splice is a total renovation of a 1840s cottage in Buckland Buckinghamshire, the CLT extension roof was craned into position with absolute precision.

The extension forms the to be kitchen of the cottage renovation, the feature roof floats above the low diagonal then tapers up forming pockets of light.

Large sections hovered above the prepared site each one precision cut with joins and chamfers, a complex geometry with built in gradients for drainage

An example of the joints with a tolerance as small as 1mm, coming together onsite.

Quite the surprise for any dog walkers was the presence of the crane lifting each piece. The site sits on the hinterland of a village surrounded by farmland

Our intention is to form a wholesome warm countryside kitchen fit for the modern day, surrounded by nature, this is biodiversity boosting architecture.

This is Buckland splice a project that explores the idea of off grid. Adapting an existing outbuilding into a rain harvesting, power generating and biodiversity boosting generator for the existing cottage.

The cottage is revitalised via series of interventions: a Cross laminated extension, new floors and a roof
