Ooooof what a week 😵‍💫

I spent the first few days poorly with tonsillitis (did you know you can get antibiotics direct from the pharmacy for things like that now?) 🤧

Boiler service ✅

Mended this PRV discharge pipe which wasn’t screwed on to the boiler and the soldered fitting just came apart! (I think the lack of solder had something to do with it 😬)

Also sealed around the flue of the same boiler (should have been done at install) ✅

Removed another radiator ✅

Booked a place to complete my cookers and fires training in December 👍🏻

I have been trying to unleash my inner Rich and crack on 🛠️ (I’m not at the mullet hair cut point…… yet)

Boiler services ✅
4 radiators off and 2 back on ✅
Survey for a shower ✅
Survey for a garden ✅

I need to get better at taking more photos but finding less motivation to do so without my muse to tease and make fun of. 🧡

I love the little pump. It gets rid of the water faster than it’s filling up the bucket. No more emptying wet vacs or buckets for me 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Uh-Oh spaghettiO!!!

The ECV is meant to turn the gas off incase of an emergency.
This little nugget was still letting gas through as it continued to spin around!

When gas engineers complete boiler services we are also looking at the safety elements of the installation, not just the single appliance.

Slowly starting to pick up jobs again -

I replaced a radiator that Rich had removed for the family to decorate and then balanced their system ✅

Replaced a PCB ✅

And discovered that the 80mm flue turret seal had perished on an old Vaillant while doing a sweep test 😬 👎🏻

It’s so important to keep up with annual servicing so these things get discovered and rectified.

It feels odd being without him by my side but I am grateful to his engineer friends for their advice and support 🥰

This year Rich and his close friends were all going to be running the Robbin Hood Half marathon together. 🏃

Between them all they have entered various events over the years but this was going to be their last one all together. 💔

One friend plans to wear Rich’s bib and there was mention of putting Rich’s timing chip on the back instead of front so he definitely couldn’t come first 🤣

They have chosen to raise money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Life Miserably) which I know meant a lot to Rich. It was one of the main resources he looked at when struggling with mental health and also reading about Joe Marler’s struggles (he’s an ambassador for CALM). 🏉

Rich died abruptly from an aneurysm but his mental health was the biggest challenge he faced. Organisations like CALM and good pals like this lot really help make a difference.

As I have mentioned once or twice (I’m not bitter, honest 😬) I have always been Rich’s 3rd favourite apprentice 🙄

Connor I have always known to be number 2 C Farmer Plumbing & Heating

And some mystery guy called Pete is number 1

Well, all three of us met at Rich’s funeral 🥰

At the time posing for these photos I felt like I was a Marvel Avenger or similar 💪🏻 obvs the reality shines a whole different light 🤣

Even more amusing to me is Pete is local to the area, and went to school with my best mate in Belper.

The enigma that is Rich’s number 1 apprentice has been closer to home than either of us had known this whole time 👀

Update for Rich’s funeral arrangements.

Unfortunately the waterboard have had to dig up the car park for the rugby club so parking is extremely limited.

So if you are local consider walking down please.

Please use surrounding street parking. There’s spaces outside the club entrance which are reserved already so please don’t park there.

Morrisons is next door. I spoke to the deputy manager and explained the situation and they have kindly said we can use Morrisons car park which is next door. If using Morrisons you MUST type your details into their tablet on the customer service counter, just inside the door. You will get a stinky fine if you don’t do this.

If you have any specific issues that require you to have a space close to the club please DM as soon as possible.

Missing him beyond measure but making moves to make him proud.

I wish we had longer together but assume forever wouldn’t have been enough.

I am going to take what’s left of the summer off and will be starting up Pingle again, I was taught by the best and he always confirmed I was his 3rd favourite apprentice 😬

One week after our lives changed forever, Connor and I returned to finish Rich’s last job.

There was a toilet too but toilets are boring, this basin is gorgeous.

Thank you Connor for rearranging all your own work and juggling everything including your grief to come help me.

I’m sure Mr Smarty Pants would have had something to say about it but I think it’s perfect.

A time for us to come together, reflect, and remember the joy, laughter, and love Rich brought to so many lives.

Tuesday 11th August at 10:00am
Amber Valley Crematorium

Followed by a gathering at Belper Rugby Club.

Please wear whatever makes you feel comfortable.

No flowers, please. Instead, if you would like to, we invite you to bring a small houseplant (anything you like, as long as it’s small enough to carry in one hand). The plants will be placed together during the ceremony, and afterwards you’re welcome to take a different one home as a keepsake. Rich loved plants, and we feel this is more appropriate than flowers.

Please don’t feel under any obligation to bring a plant or follow any of these suggestions. We simply ask that you join us in remembering Rich in whatever way feels right for you.
