Set high above Moville with panoramic views across Lough Foyle, the new Moville Community College extension occupies a remarkable position within the town. Its elevated setting, mature landscape and relationship with the harbour and surrounding coastline provide a distinctive context for a new civic building. Shaped around the natural contours of the elevated site, the two-storey extension combines a considered architectural form, pitched roofs, generous glazing and a prominent entrance canopy to create a welcoming and confident new identity.
At the centre of the design is a flexible and inclusive learning environment that brings together education, wellbeing, sport and community life. Naturally lit spaces, social areas, courtyards and adaptable teaching environments connect seamlessly with the landscape, embracing its exceptional setting, with views towards the harbour, town and Lough Foyle.
The GP Hall forms the social heart of the school, with the PE facilities designed to support community use beyond school hours. Outdoor learning spaces, sheltered courtyards, grass play areas, and ball courts extend the learning environment beyond the classroom and create a campus designed for activity, connection and engagement.
Through its prominent position, strong civic identity and sensitive relationship with landscape, Moville Community College aims to become both a place of learning and a source of local pride.
