Some Pics and vids from our day at the Matsuri Festival celebrating 30th Anniversary of the Japan Society of Northern Ireland. Opened by the Japanese Ambassador for the UK, we had dancing, drums, judo, kendo, sumo, ikebana and an amazing tea ceremony. Lots of genuine interest in our trees and the club.

We are all set up for our small display tomorrow at the Matsuri Festival at W5 Belfast 10.30-5.30. Maybe see you there.

Bonsai can be a very personal thing with deeper meaning hidden behind what is shown. We had a few displays at the weekend that were emotional for the owners. Both displays sat side by side and may well have looked a little strange to the public or those into bonsai display in general. However the story and meaning behind the trees and items used can make a true emotional connection. Emotion should be in bonsai, if not, then you are missing not only an opportunity, but perhaps the whole point.

We’ve been quiet for a few days. Take down and transportation of the trees back home takes its toll 😃 as we find time this week we’ll share some more exhibition content with you. We had 26,500 visitors to the Autumn Fair and it feels like most of them made it around our exhibits. However it’s not all about our public outreach looking for new members. It is also about our current members. So, on Sunday morning, for two and a half hours!, we enjoyed a critique of the trees and displays which was delivered by saruyama29 This was the highlight of the weekend for those who could attend and we recorded them for those who couldn’t. On behalf of all of our members we’d like to give our thanks to Peter for making this event truly special.
