The market has matured, and the conversations have become more sophisticated. Solar & Storage Live 2026 made that shift particularly clear.

The discussion has moved beyond why flexibility matters and increasingly beyond how it works towards, quite simply, how do we unlock its commercial value?

We had excellent meetings with customers, partners, installers, developers, asset owners and businesses operating across the industry value chain while our interactive demos of Joulen Flex and Joulen Trade showcased how we optimise flexible assets and enable participation in energy markets to create new revenue streams.

We were joined by guest speakers Patrick Goodman from ev.energy. and Paul Gregory from Sentinel EMS for live sessions that brought different perspectives on flexibility in practice from technological, commercial, consumer and regulatory data points.

And, away from the formal programme our Guinness Happy Hour gave everyone the chance to keep the conversations flowing.

It was a pleasure to welcome David Roberts from HDM Energy to the Joulen stand at Solar & Storage Live this week as we begin a new Joulen Flex partnership.

Joulen Flex is the complete flexibility-as-a-service proposition which combines intelligent asset management and optimisation with expert energy market trading to create additional revenue for asset owners.

For HDM Energy, this opens new opportunities to extract greater commercial value from flexible C&I assets, integrating flexibility and market participation into its wider energy solutions.

We’re delighted to welcome HDM Energy and look forward to building on the collaboration in the months ahead, starting with an initial pilot project in the coming weeks.

We’re pleased to announce that Joulen is now a member of the Energy Storage Association (UK), formalised today at Solar & Storage Live 2026 with Jason Howlett from the ESA, alongside Joulen’s Gareth Boyd and Rishi Mehta.

Our membership strengthens Joulen’s engagement with the UK energy storage sector and creates new opportunities to collaborate with the organisations shaping the future of energy storage, flexibility and clean energy.

Engagement will be critical to developing the markets, technologies and approaches needed to unlock the full potential of flexible energy assets.

We’re looking forward to working alongside ESA members, contributing to industry discussions and sharing our experience across optimisation, flexibility and energy trading as the sector moves forward.

At Solar & Storage Live, we were pleased to mark the start of our new partnership with Kight PowerHub.

This partnership combines Kight PowerHub’s battery technology with Joulen’s Trade proposition, enabling residential battery assets in social housing to participate in energy markets. For social housing associations and social landlords, this creates an opportunity to unlock additional value from those assets while crucially delivering lower energy costs for tenants.
