Matching mortar - I use different sands and pozzolans to match existing lime mortars. We’ve applied two samples in this wall and will find out in a couple of weeks which one works best

Removing a concrete plinth to let the bricks breathe. So many old homes have concrete plinths, installed after the original lime plinth reached the end of its expected life. Unfortunately, concrete plinths trap ground and rain water around the perimeter of a house, causing damage to masonry and damp inside. The solution? Smash it off and either replace with a lime plinth or simply repoint if the bricks are in good condition

Insulated lime plaster is letting this home breathe again. This wall was suffering from damp and surface damage caused by inches of inappropriate materials: concrete, tanking, bitumen, gypsum - all of which are now sitting where they belong in a skip!

This is an interesting find - clay, straw and earth plaster over reeds in the ceiling of a 17th Century home. I’ll be carefully restoring this with local reeds and a custom clay plaster mix.
