When there is a new edition of the electrical regulations, Colin has to sit exams and we purchase the news regs books. In the intervening years, they make minor amendments ( these being the types of things he will likely get quizzed on as part of his annual review ) We need to prove we are abreast of the changes and when carrying out work, that he is adhering to the rules. As we're now on the 4th amendment to the 18th edition, that's a new set of books. Β£200 right there! An unfortunate, but necessary business expense! Guess what Colins evening reading is going to be looking like over the next few weeks??!!!

Managed to catch Karen in today... she kindly left a review on West Lothian Council trusted trader site. She opted to have Prosecco, so Colin dropped off a bottle today. She actually should have had 2, but she's asked that

All our purchases have been made for our prize draw winners, but as per usual, it's finding the time to visit that's the problem. Managed to catch Dave at home last week. He's a bit camera shy, but here's some pics of the work we did as part of his renovations, and his prize

Taking a much needed long weekend, so the best way to get us is to email or text, phones will be turned off for everyone but family. For those who won goodies in the prize draw, they're all here ready for delivery, we've just not had a minute, you will all likely hear from me on Sun/Mon to arrange when I can get you in

I've been told by physio that I have tennis elbow, and because I've been stubborn and ignored it and soldiered on with it for a couple of years, I've caused a bit of damage, so I'm under strict instructions to learn to be as left handed as possible and not to lift heavy stuff if I can avoid it. Soooo, I'm still on the left handed mouse thing, definitely not going to be going out to assist on the tools any time soon, and had never appreciated just how heavy a 100m drum of 2.5 is until I'm only allowed to use my left hand to deal with it!! For everyone who has made enquiries over the last couple of weeks, I am REALLY sorry for delays, but my speed using mostly my left hand IS improving a bit, and I will catch up (the phones have also been crazy busy) If you have an URGENT enquiry its definitely best to call me on my mobile. Thanks for your patience everyone. Hopefully with a bit of intense rehab, it will improve quick, but I've been warned it could be several months :( Just as well its me and not Colin eh??!!

OZEV registration for EV chargepoint grant installs: We are currently registered as an OZEV approved installer for grants for EV installs. We recently had an enquiry from a customer and despite contacting OZEV several days ago about access to the portal, we have not had a response. We found the process during the first phase of grant claims complicated and frustrating, and the support was very minimal, so we have made the decision NOT to continue to offer to do grant based work via OZEV.

We WILL continue to install EV's via the Home Energy Scotland grant process as and when they run them.

In the interim time whilst we go about removing ourselves from the scheme, we will unfortunately be turning away anyone who comes to us wanting an EV install using the OZEV grant. We are sorry if this causes disappointment, but the job is complex enough without adding lots of extra sets of hoops to jump through

Non grant EV installs will continue as normal

'Torphichen faces' Colin's & mine are part of the art exhibition by Greg Moodie at St Johns Hall, Torphichen for the next week

04/04/2026

Last night we attended the opening of an exhibition of work by local artist Greg Moodie . 'Torphichen Faces' ( of which Colin & I are included) runs until 12/4, 2-7pm each day, at St Johns Hall, Torphichen. Greg kindly agreed to do our prize draw for people who have left feedback. The winners are Gillian Soper (google), John Cook (WLC trusted trader), Karen Howie ( WLC trusted trader) and Dave Lee (WLC trusted trader). I'll be in touch with everyone over the next few days to see if they want wine, flowers or Prosecco. Thanks to all who left feedback.

πŸ₯ΆπŸŒ§οΈπŸŒ§οΈπŸ’¨πŸ’¦ We've never taken Easter off since we started trading. We decided to treat ourselves this year. And of course, because of that we are going to get gales, and probably snow as well. Colins trip away is cancelled and my weekends gardening is going to be reduced to pulling buckets of frog spawn out of the ponds and putting them in the garage so it doesn't freeze 🀣. All my fault, I should not have booked Easter off 😫.
The last week has been crazy busy. We are still on track with sparky workload due to Colin putting in some pretty exceptional hours lately, but due to a wrist/hand injury, I can type but only work the mouse with my left hand, so the office stuff and paperwork is a couple of days behind. Fortunately I was ahead of the game with stocktaking, as I'm limited to what I can lift using my right hand, so barring delays with the paperwork, you shouldn't see any difference . We are now taking bookings for JUNE 10th onwards. There are gaps here and there before that, but nothing substantial
