Still wading through emails, but very nearly on top of them now, though some may carry into tomorrow. Not so much the orders though, which are piling up 🫣. Unfortunately, I really can't keep on top of this part of the job whilst we're away. Barring small slots here and there, we're now into December for bookings

That's me just arrived back in the UK, but Colin will be another couple of days. It will take me a few days to catch up. If anyone who expects to hear from me by Friday, hasn't, then do prod me, just in case anyone falls into the cracks. I expect things to be a bit bedlamish for a couple of days

We're now on annual leave, with Colin leaving today and returning on 7 October. I'll still be around for a few more days, and fly out to catch him in Geneva on Friday. As always, I'll deal with administration and answer queries as we go along, but if you need to get in touch, email or text are the best options. There is currently no scope left in the diary for any large jobs in October, but we can usually find a little wriggle room for smaller stuff. The first available substantial slots are from 13 November onwards

Barring dive bombing wee bits and bobs in little gaps that appear, we are now taking bookings for OCTOBER, which is already fairly full. Admin availability is a bit sparodic just now, so if you feel like you've fallen into a gap, please don't hesitate to chase me, however, please be aware that we both intend to back off a bit on the amount of hours we are working. Colin is off from 24 August to 8 October incl. I'll still be available until 28 August and back to work 5th October, but as usual, available intermittently during the time we're away

PRICE CHANGE: For various reasons, effective immediately, we have changed our pricing on EICR's (electrical inspection condition reports) The vast majority of these require us to have NICEIC membership, and the price of this has increased dramatically over the last few years, so increasing the price of an EICR means that the costs are being passed onto the folk for whom our membership is actually required. The change will not apply to jobs already booked in at a previous agreed price. From now onwards a 1 or 2 bed EICR (with one fuseboard and one reception room) will be £150.00. A 3 or 4 bed EICR (with one fuseboard and one reception room) is £170.00. If your premises differs from these, we will assess before providing a price.

These reports are carried out for safety purposes, and Colin is very thorough, so we have set our price to allow for his hourly rate and to give him enough time on site to check as many points as possible and to carry out insulation resistance testing. We also take the time to go through the report afterwards if this is required, so we feel the new pricing is more than fair. Up until now we have absorbed these costs, but the further jump in NICEIC prices this year and increased admin time (most EICR's are on rentals which are more admin heavy) has unfortunately forced this move.

Our other prices remain unchanged, so for now a full RCBO fuseboard with up to 8 ways is £550.00, and a standard install EV point (not incl the chargepoint itself) is £400.00

Colin is on holiday and not back until Sunday. Officially, I'm on holiday too, but painfully aware of the backlog of invoices, so I'll be working through them over the next few days, and also dealing with all the usual calls & emails as normal. Thanks for your patience folks

Colin is off on Thursday and Friday. He is briefly back at work on Monday and then we are both on annual leave from Tuesday 19th through to Thursday 28th incl. We can be reached by text and email during this time as normal

When there is a new edition of the electrical regulations, Colin has to sit exams and we purchase the news regs books. In the intervening years, they make minor amendments ( these being the types of things he will likely get quizzed on as part of his annual review ) We need to prove we are abreast of the changes and when carrying out work, that he is adhering to the rules. As we're now on the 4th amendment to the 18th edition, that's a new set of books. £200 right there! An unfortunate, but necessary business expense! Guess what Colins evening reading is going to be looking like over the next few weeks??!!!

Managed to catch Karen in today... she kindly left a review on West Lothian Council trusted trader site. She opted to have Prosecco, so Colin dropped off a bottle today. She actually should have had 2, but she's asked that
