WINDOWS!
Often in my work, it's nice to put down the trowels and take up some more general restoration tools, in this case it's the chop saw and putty knife.
It's easy to let maintenance slip on old wooden windows. A decade or two without a fresh coat of paint had left these peeling like sunburn and rotting into compost. They'd gone past the point of no return in the eyes of previous tradies. "Nothing I can do with this, needs a new window fitting" is what they all said...
Enter muggins, although it's more fiddly, I understand the clients trepidations in breaking out an old window, having a new one built, then re-installing and fixing up any disturbed masonry. Aside from the cost, the mess (and hole in the side of they're house) is just too much for certain clients. That's where a sympathetic and restorative approach is needed.
Through a high degree of problem solving, I was able to nibble out all the rotten wood and perfectly splice in new timber, leaving my clients with a strong new windows, good for years to come at roughly half the cost of a new window. All in a day's work for Breathe Easy.
