PART 2 — THE FINISHED RESULT. 🏠🔨

After uncovering the problems with this roof, we’ve now finished putting everything right for the customer.

We completely cut a new roof structure with new rafters, giving the roof a proper solid foundation before rebuilding it correctly.

New lead work throughout, including around the chimney stack, capped coping stones and all the necessary detailing.

We also installed a new, straight and secure dry ridge system, with everything finished neatly and correctly.

From a roof that had simply been re-battened over the existing materials…

To a completely rebuilt and properly finished roof.

Properly stripped. Properly built. Properly finished.

Most importantly, the customer can now have complete peace of mind knowing their roof has been rebuilt properly, using the right materials and the right methods, and is built to last for years to come.

Re-roof (special edition)

Thousands of pounds spent on a “new roof”… but the old roof was still underneath.

Parts of the existing roof hadn’t been stripped out. New felt and battens had simply been installed over the top, leaving the old materials and rubble underneath.

And that wasn’t the only issue.

No eaves trays. Incorrect lead work. A poorly installed dry ridge system. Multiple practical faults. And, ultimately, a leaking roof.

Our job wasn’t to criticise what had gone before. It was to put it right.

Properly stripped. Properly built. Properly finished.

We’re still very much in the process of putting this one right — and there’s plenty more work to come.

LEAD VALLEY REPLACEMENT - ONGOING ROOF WORKS

As part of the ongoing works on this roof, we’ve now replaced the existing lead valley.

The previous works had left the original valley in place, despite the existing leadwork having failed and requiring complete replacement.

The valley is a critical part of the roof drainage system, so correct installation and detailing are essential to achieving a watertight, long-lasting roof.

Another issue identified and put right as part of bringing this roof back up to the standard it should have been.

From a tired corrugated roof to a fully insulated warm flat roof 🔨

This one was stripped back and replaced with a new warm roof system, finished with carefully detailed leadwork around the existing coping stones.

A big upgrade in both performance and finish — built to provide a long-term roofing solution.

Pooling water on your flat roof? 💧

A small amount of water after heavy rain can be normal, but if water is regularly sitting on your flat roof for prolonged periods, it’s worth getting it checked.

Pooling water can be a sign of issues with the roof’s falls, drainage, localised dips or the condition of the existing covering. Over time, repeatedly sitting water can put unnecessary stress on the roof and contribute to deterioration, leaks and more costly repairs.
