Make it real

We are delighted to see the start on site of Pangbourne Boathouse, creating two generous new boathouses, clubhouse and other key facilities for Pangbourne College. An extremely challenging narrow site, sandwiched between the River Thames and main road, surrounded by listed buildings and within the floodplain. Mitchell Eley Gould successfully navigated a complex planning process with Turley Planning Consultants and have worked closely with the College and contractor, during a 2 stage tender process, to meet the College’s budget.

🏡 Great Barn Court, Keynsham – New Homes. New Beginnings - Ten Energy Efficient Affordable Homes

We’re proud to have helped deliver Great Barn Court, transforming a challenging council-owned brownfield site into 10 high-quality affordable apartments across two blocks.

Our role was focused on the technical delivery of a previously consented scheme, but we also used the process as an opportunity to enhance the design wherever possible – improving sustainability, technical detailing, build quality and long-term performance.
Every home has achieved EPC A, with a fabric-first approach, air source heat pumps, MVHR and solar PV.

But the biggest achievement is the impact beyond the buildings. The homes are providing secure accommodation for people moving through different housing pathways, including care-experienced young people and residents moving on from temporary accommodation.

A great example of how challenging brownfield land can become high-quality, sustainable homes with a real community purpose.

🏆 Great Danes Court – Bath Property Awards 2026 Finalist

We’re delighted to share that Great Danes Court has been shortlisted in three categories at the 2026 Bath Property Awards:

Partnerships
Sustainability

The project has also been recognised in the Partnerships category alongside H. Mealing, Aequus and Bath & North East Somerset Council — a fantastic reflection of what can be achieved through genuine collaboration.

Great Danes Court delivers 10 new affordable homes, providing much-needed housing while demonstrating how thoughtful design, sustainability and strong partnerships can come together to create high-quality homes for the local community.

We’re particularly proud of the collaboration between Mitchell Eley Gould, H. Mealing, Aequus and Bath & North East Somerset Council throughout the project. It has been a real team effort, from developing the design through to technical delivery and construction.

We are delighted that Mitchell Eley Gould have also been recognised as finalists in both the Architect and Employer categories.

The opportunity to work with an inspired and interested client, an enthusiastic design team and an engaged local authority is not as common as you might think. But the results speak for themselves with planning approval for a replacement dwelling near Bath that came about as a result of a thorough investigation of the creative reuse opportunities, the challenges of the site and the desire to design a building that is spatially and contextually responsive, sustainable and inspirational.

The extensive re-working of an existing dwelling in Bath has transformed a residential building into an elegant family home. The introduction of large openings within a carefully detailed stone extension has provided views over the surrounding context and a connection to a renewed landscape. A close working relationship with the client has facilitated a significant remodel that involved bespoke kitchen, bathroom and joinery design including the remodelling of an existing staircase to achieve a unique and tastefully composed home.
