My team and I at Bath Stone Conservation, carried out conservation works to this well preserved chest tomb. Our works included: removing vegetation from joints, repointing all joints, carrying out mortar repairs and lastly 40 coats of lime water was applied over the whole structure to prevent further erosion.

We, at Bath Stone Conservation, carry out conservation works to listed buildings in a sympathetic and appropriate manner. Wherever possible our philosophy is to repair rather than replace such as this deteriorated Bath stone ashlar block. Our repairs are always carried out using lime mortar mixes, created by us using different types/grades of sands/stone dusts to match the colour and texture of the stonework.

My team and I at Bath Stone Conservation enjoy challenging jobs such as this one. The ground floor stonework had been previously rendered which was really stuck to the stone surface. With gentle manual removal and plenty of patience, we were slowly able to remove it all. This was followed by mortar repairs, stone replacements, repointing and toning in of the entire lower stonework to blend in with the first floor. The clients were extremely happy with the end result!

A little stone window in need of the Bath Stone Conservation team's touch. The deteriorated stone was brushed back, then we applied lime mortar repairs to the damaged areas building it it back up to its original profile. Well done team!

What a difference pointing with the correct material can have! My team and I at Bath Stone Conservation carried out repointing to this beautiful house exterior wall. We used a lime based mortar mix which we matched to the original mortar we found underneath the hard cement pointing they had recently used. Now the stone can breath and looks much nicer with the white lias stone!

Within a few days, the Bath Stone Conservation team transformed this discoloured Bath stone wall from being patchy to a more unified look without overcleaning it. Now it blends in better with the surrounding buildings. Well done team!

This little angel sits way up high withing the walls of St Georges' Chapel, Windsor. During our conservation works there, we gently cleaned away the dust and grime to reveal its beautiful intricate and detailed carving.

Happy Easter from the Bath Stone Conservation Team ❤️❤️ We carried out conservation works to this beautiful carved stone rood screen depicting Jesus Christ - years of grime and dirt concealed the beautiful buff-coloured limestone and marble inserts. Once again it can be seen in its full glory!

No jobs are too big or small for the Bath Stone Conservation team. During one of our recent projects, we carried out conservation works to this beautiful Georgian sundial - from consolidation of the delaminating stone face to minor mortar repairs and repointing of all the joints.

It was a great pleasure carrying out the conservation works on Midsomer Norton's War Memorial for Midsomer Norton Town Council recently.

Pollutant build up over the stone's surface and the staining caused by the bronze plaques were removed using different techniques, to expose the beautiful clean stone beneath.

It was also lovely to receive so many positive comments from passers by and other residents who appreciated the cleaning of this beautiful monument - dedicated to our fallen soldiers during the First World War.

Using a DOFF machine, a heated pressure washer, is the best way for removing sulphate and dirt from Bath stone. You need to be trained to use this machine, as it can cause more damage than good in the wrong hands, but the results are outstanding. Once the stone is clean, pointing and repairs are essential!
