Calacatta Oro, Blue Masaccio and Zimbabwe Black granite each perform a different role within Women’s Superbrands at Harrods.

Calacatta Oro establishes the principal pale surface, carrying its natural movement through the longer hallways and into the circular patterned floors.

Blue Masaccio introduces contrast within the radial compositions, making their geometry visible across the department.

Zimbabwe Black granite forms the borders, framing the lighter stones and defining the transitions between different areas.

Finally, slender brass inlays articulate the pattern at its finest scale.

The Calacatta Oro also moves from floor to wall. In selected hallways, fluted panels introduce depth, shadow and a more tactile vertical expression.

The finished floor conceals the concentration it took to make it.

For the patterned floors within Women’s Superbrands at Harrods, brass was inlaid by hand into the stone. Each fine line contributes to a much larger radial composition formed in Calacatta Oro and Blue Masaccio.

The production photographs bring the process close: individual pieces, precise junctions, and the handwork required to make the brass part of the pattern rather than an addition.

The completed photographs reveal the change in scale. What begins as a carefully resolved detail in the factory becomes a strong architectural element within the department.

This is where craft is most valuable: not as a separate flourish, but as the means by which a complex idea becomes a coherent finished surface.

From a first glimpse to the completed department.

For Women’s Superbrands at Harrods, stoneCIRCLE created patterned natural-stone flooring in Calacatta Oro and Blue Masaccio, framed by Zimbabwe Black granite.

The circular compositions establish focal points throughout the interior. From a distance, their radial geometry helps organise the department. Up close, the individual pieces, natural veining, and fine brass lines become visible.

In selected hallways, fluted Calacatta Oro wall panels extend the stonework vertically, giving the circulation spaces a distinct texture while maintaining continuity with the floors.

From Hull’s maritime memory to carved Carrara marble.

These six topstones were designed by artists Anna Heinrich & Leon Palmer for the Hull Maritime Waymarkers, inspired by Queen’s Dock bollards, museum artefacts and the city’s riverscapes.
CNC-carved and hand-finished at stoneCIRCLE, ready for their journey to Guildhall Road.
