One of the best things about hosting guests in our shepherd’s hut is reading the comments they leave in our guest book, and last night’s guests absolutely nailed it:

In a world that’s always switched on, it’s lovely to know that our shepherd’s hut offers a chance to slow down, switch off, and simply enjoy the peace and quiet. Comments like these make it all worthwhile.

Tonight’s guest is walking the and has ordered dinner after a long day on the trail. It’s a hearty meal of lasagne, salad, garlic bread, and fresh fruit for dessert.

I’m sure it’ll be very welcome after today’s miles, and hopefully it’ll set him up for a good night’s sleep before another big day tomorrow as he continues his journey towards Dalry.

One of the pleasures of hosting walkers is knowing that a good meal, a comfortable place to rest, and a friendly welcome can make all the difference at the end of a long day.

Wishing him fair weather and happy walking for the next stage of his adventure. 🥾

A rare trip away to the Lake District last night.

Me R and I were delivering some cattle to so we made the most of it and stayed overnight with friends in their beautiful home. We had a bit of a busman’s holiday and moved some cattle down the narrow lanes, and were then treated to a delicious dinner, wonderful company, and a great night’s sleep.

We came home feeling relaxed, refreshed, and grateful for a little change of scenery and some time together. ❤️
