This one really hit close to home...

A customer in Barnsley contacted us after their Ford Kuga went from a runner to a complete non-runner overnight. A breakdown company had already been out and advised the customer to get a BRAND NEW BCM — not cheap, and not a quick turnaround.

But something didn't add up. They gave us a call, and after a proper diagnostic session we quickly identified that the BCM was NOT actually the root cause — it had simply become corrupted and needed recoding. The REAL problem? A dead dash cluster, which was preventing the radio from powering on and causing the whole system to fall over.

Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI – Barnsley 🚗

🔑 Mini Cooper Key Repair – Barnsley 🔑

You press unlock. Nothing. You press it again. Still nothing.

That sinking feeling starts to kick in. When did I last change the battery? Did it go through the wash? Have I dropped it one too many times? Your mind starts running through every possible scenario...

For the older Mini Cooper keys, there is actually a twist most people don't know about — they use a rechargeable battery built into the fob itself. Over time, that battery can simply go flat. But in this case, the battery wasn't even the half of it.

Barnsley - Nissan R35 Skyline GTR - All Keys Lost 🔑🚗

Now this one was a job and a half.

The owner of this stunning R35 GTR found themselves in a tough spot - no keys whatsoever, and to make things just that little bit more interesting, the car was locked too. Not the easiest combination to work with!

📍 Barnsley | Ford Transit | Key Remote Repair

Some days in this job you think you've seen it all...

And then a customer rocks up with THIS. 👇

This was the "spare" key that came with their newly purchased Ford Transit. Now, I'll keep my professional opinion to myself... but let's just say whoever did this had clearly watched one too many YouTube tutorials and decided halfway through was a good time to improvise. 😂

The remote wasn't working. Shock. Horror. I can't say I was surprised.

What I COULD NOT get my head around was why they went to ALL that effort to crack the key open (which, fair enough, is actually the hard part) and then decided the finishing touches were... optional. A battery held together with what I can only describe as hope and a prayer. Frankenstein would be proud. 💀

Anyway. Job done properly:

✅ Key cleaned up
✅ Frankenstein battery removed (RIP)
✅ Contact points cleaned
✅ Brand new battery soldered on correctly

Result? Fully working remote. Like magic. Almost like it was supposed to work this way all along. 😏
