💪 Plenty going on at Precision Damp Proofing! As usual forget to take photos as we are so busy fixing stuff.

We’ve got loads of projects running at the minute, including multiple below-ground structures undergoing waterproofing works, alongside our daily bread and butter — the good old “damp jobs” 😂

We’ve also got our ongoing social housing contracts keeping us busy, with damp, mould and ventilation works taking place across South Yorkshire, including multiple ventilation system installations going in to help improve indoor air quality and tackle condensation and mould issues.

But the biggest shout-out has to go to our team. The lads have really stepped up, put the hours in and shown just how dedicated they are to getting every job completed properly. 👏

Today’s project involved timber treatment works, ripping out affected flooring and removing the old lath and plaster beneath a section of the subfloor before replacing everything.

Tomorrow, we move onto the damp-proofing works. The affected walls will be hacked off, drilled and injected, then replastered using the Dryzone Express Replastering System.

Our electrician will also be installing a ventilation system within the cellar to increase airflow due to the lack of effective cross-flow ventilation.

From everyday damp and timber treatments to complex basement waterproofing, social housing contracts and full ventilation solutions — there’s certainly plenty happening behind the scenes!

Another successful damp remediation project completed for a landlord. 👌

This property had suffered from a historic penetrating damp issue caused by defective rainwater goods. The gutters have now been repaired, the affected wall areas treated and a waterproof render system installed before being professionally skimmed.

As part of the works, the existing extractor fan was re-installed, commissioned and set up to current ventilation requirements, helping ensure the property now meets modern ventilation standards and provides a healthier indoor environment for the tenant.

Something a bit different started this week…

At first glance, it might just look like a hole in the ground — but this is the start of a basement waterproofing project, including a new lightwell area.

This stage is all about preparation, excavation and getting the structure ready before the waterproofing system begins.

Basement works aren’t always pretty at the start, but this is where the important work happens.

Chimney breast damp repair using a Multiflex membrane system

This chimney breast area had previously suffered from damp staining and salt contamination due to external defects, including defective chimney flashings and a missing chimney pot.

The external defects were repaired first, which is always the correct starting point. Once the source of moisture had been addressed, we carried out the internal remedial works using a Multiflex membrane system to isolate the contaminated masonry from the new plaster finish.

Chimney breasts are commonly affected by hygroscopic salts. Even after the external issue has been repaired, salts can remain within the brickwork and continue to attract moisture from the air, causing staining, blistering paint and plaster deterioration.

On this project, the system was installed to provide a barrier between the existing chimney masonry and the new internal finish, helping to prevent residual salts from affecting the decorated surface.
