Keeping those pesky jackdaws out of your chimney will potentially save a lot of time, effort and money! In picture 1 the live flue has a new birdguard and the 2 redundant ones capped off.
If you burn a lot of smokeless fuel a mild steel birdguard may only last a couple of years like this one in the second picture. Replaced with a stainless steel one
