🦦 A MUMMIFIED WEASEL?! 😳

Well, you don’t see one of these every day!

We stumbled across this rather unusual little fellow - a naturally mummified weasel.

It might look like something from a horror film, but there’s actually some fascinating natural history behind it.

Weasels are tiny but mighty predators, feeding on rodents, birds and other small animals. Their long, slender bodies allow them to squeeze into incredibly small spaces - perfect for hunting mice in burrows and around buildings.

So how did this one become mummified?

In the right conditions, a dead animal can dry out rapidly before bacteria and fungi have a chance to break it down. Dry, well-ventilated environments can essentially preserve the body naturally, leaving behind a rather spooky little time capsule of wildlife.
